movie ironhide
why does everyone say ironhide is the best?????
ive heard that he has very limited posability, its foot automorph is very ...um very...sensitive, in other words, it activates easily, in other words, his feet are easy to automorph ( no sense right? ).
so uh, opinions?

He's not my favorite. hard to transform back into a truck. He's probably the most overly complicated figure i own to transform.
Plus ironhide is too skinny and looks nothing like in the movie....aside from the bovine head.

He looks cool, but not that balanced as a toy, mostly on the feet. Partly, its due to the automorph not operating that smooth, but ultimately is the feet/heel not lock in place. They flex a bit, making Ironhide lose balance very easy other than a static pose. And his waist connection pops out often unintentionally. Its pretty fun to transform though.
So overall, good, but not great, due to some structure issues.

I love my Ironhide. He looks great beside my leader class figures, he fits in just about right. He does have some things you can point out that are wrong, but every figure does, and his aren't as glaring as others, like Blackout or Ratchet. Mine poses really cool. I have him with one leg back, his weight shifting forward, both arms lowered and bent forward with his cannons pointed out. He looks kind of "cowboy" to me, like a crazy man. He just needed better paint apps I think for bot mode. And a tiny bit of grissle added to his upper legs wouldn't hurt either. Like shave some of the fluff off of Ratchet and give it to Ironhide.
Of course, none of this is new, cuz there's a thread like this every couple weeks.

Me too.

I hear others say they don't, but to me, they look tough.

Yeah I like ironhide, sux that child safety laws made his smoke stacks short, but still a very cool and suprisingly challenging transformer.

Cons: He has the hardest movie line transformation, he doesnt stand well, the fuel tanks in alt mode are too big,and his hip-torso connector sucks.
Pros: He has the hardest movie line transformation, he looks AWESOME, his cannons are cool, both alt and robot mode are GREAT, his hood has those springy things, and he's a good size(relative to the deluxe classes)

His transformation is just RAD! He goes from looking like a plain ol' truck .. to the busiest looking robot of the line.
He doesn't look like a movie accurate Ironhide? Are you serious? I mean, c'mon ... that's about as close as a Voyager class can get. It's a great attempt IMHO.
Sure, he isn't perfect ... but if you made that yourself from scratch. I'd bet you would be ranting and raving about it.

He's cool looking, but he's the most fragile/unplayable TF I have. He's more a statue than a toy.
Personally, out of the Voyagers I prefer Rescue Ratchet and Thundercracker/G1 redeco SS the best. Just got them recently and I'm amazed at how playable they are compared to Ironhide.

I dunno about any reissues... but I do know I ordered Deluxe black Ironhide off of Walmart.com yesterday with free 'ship to store' option... so movie black Ironhide is still out there...

His cannons make him look cool.

The figure, yeah, close enough (though the face can be better and less 'cat-like'). The cannons, no. Don't remember seeing 4 big missile things sticking out (the shapes & sizes are all wrong), nor having the 2 cannons combine to one. And don't think they are blue either.
But still, I like Ironhide.

Oh yeah, because all the figures have such accurate weapons... Starscream and his giant ungainly missle launchers, LP's fugly ion cannon, Ratchet's absolutely useless claw and axe. Hell, Ironhide at least came out with a big cannon on each arm.

What?! Ironhide looks nothing like in the move? Ironhide is considered accurate enough. Voyager Ratchet is perhaps the least movie-accurate of all the voyager toys. A lot of things like the torso and the legs on the toy doesn't even match.

they definitely are much more accurate to the movie than G1 Ironhide & Ratchet ever were to the cartoon...

Since when did I say those other weapon depictions are cool?

Like I said, Ironhide is nice, and I am glad I bought it (even made an effort hunting it down for a while). But doesn't mean I have to be blind at some of the flaws it has. That goes to my other toys as well, be it my favorite figures or not. Merits should be praised, and flaws should be noted as well. Thats how I see it.
