MP-05 Unmodified - Is it worth getting two??
I don't think I have ever bought a TF with the sole purpose of reselling him, but I am wondering if this may be worth it.
From what I hear, any MP-05 figs that have the plug have been previously opened for the moddification to occur. Because so few retailers even offer the unmodified versions, this would meen that the majority of MP-05s are not MISB.
I was fortunate enough to receive an unmoddified version the first time round, but quickly opened him as I do with all my figures. As an investment, should I get a second one to hold on to and keep sealed?

That is true about the MP-01. Because MP-05 is a gun aswell, it is probably a good idea to get him before someone tries to rob a bank with one of these or they change the laws again and make it even more difficult to get one.
The more I think about it, the more valuble I think these things are going to be in the future.

If you've got the money to do it, why not? I'm not really interested in reselling figures, but maybe if I had the money I would be. An MP is a pretty good investment considering how much they go for.
By the way, cool to see you here as well as A3U. I can't recall where you showed up first...

Getting one is enough. He's too pricy right now and you can't even play with him. He's no toy.

Well with a preorder the price is as low as it's ever going to be, so she only stands to profit from buying an extra.

I figure that if I were to get a spare, now would be the time. They also seem to apreciate in value quickly.I wouln'd be surprised if in 4 years they would go for 300$ or so.

I cant remember either! As my local toy store, I believe they told me about this site, but their forum is newer then this one. So I guess I was on this site first, but I knew about the store before this site. I hope that makes sence. Now I am getting confused!

masterpieces were never toys in the first place, but sorry about your mp megs....
.... anyways, if you want to and especially if you got the cash, then go for it.... but dont pay too much for him or else reselling him will be pointless. reselling is only good when you get the figure at retail or when its cheap and then the price goes up; dont buy him when the price is already up and then having hopes of reselling.

Hah, no matter. I think I noticed you on the old A3U board first, but then there's only about 10 members to notice.

Yes, now is the time! But 3 Megatrons??? Now that's pushing it.

I picked up one, and that was enough for me. What with the rampant fragility issues and his metal feet tarnishing with time, I consider him nothing so much as a very articulated statue that has the ability to transform, which I never will out of fear of breaking him.

Dispite being someone who never buys none transforming tfs, I have to agree. I dont think I own a single tf that i have transformed less than MP megs. Heck you cant even do anything with his alt mode. It's too big to pose with, and dosnt stand up.
Dont get me wrong, the thing is bad ass, and I would never sell the one I have. But is it worth getting two (other than to sell the second one on)?
NO.

Unless you were going to sell alot of them, the profit is outweighed by the effort of buying and storing multiples.
That might sound ridiculous, but if you have a solid, steady income you will be suprised at how underwhelming the profit actually is.
Say you doubled what you paid, thats still only $100. You could use that $100 now to pick up a lot of the movie line or whatever you like at retail.
I have sold doubles a few times, and made nice profits on some of the more desirable figures, and MP Megs will surely be more valuable a year from now but you are going to sit on Megs for at least a year for a lousy $100 bucks?
I say pass, and expand your collection.

If you are a perfectionist, get at least 2. One in Gun mode and one in robot mode. As multiple transformation will sure scratch some paint and break a peg or two. Pretty much unavoidable even if you are very careful. If you have a lot of money sitting around, get a third for making some profit years later.
But if you don't mind some wear, and don't transform it all the time, one is good enough. Posing it often is fine. Its the transformation that does the damage.

This figure is deffinatly not one I feel brave enough to play with too much, but thank you for the warning and the pics.
This is also still a pricy figure, and I don't have enough disposible income to get too many. I just feel like if I were to get some, now would be the time as they are just going to get more expensive.
Also, do people care wether or not they get one unmodified? I know that the fig itself is still exactly the same, but to me, it feels like a big deal.

I've been noticing the price drop rapidly for MP-05 on Ebay. Last week they were closing at around $170-$200(USD) including shipping. Now you can get an unmodified one for about $145 including shipping. These are mostly from Hong Kong and Singapore sellers. I wonder if they are just unloading old inventory or did they already get the second release?
In any case, I wonder how low the price will drop as the second release comes into full swing. It just may not be worth that much to wait till the end of December or January for a modified version when a unmodified version is available for a few bucks more NOW.

I got my first one from A3U, and they said that they will be getting more unmoddifird this time round as well. Being in Canada makes that alot easier.

Do you happen to know who has them who glue or paint on the tip? A removable plug is not TOO bad, but getting one permanently altered whould be terrible.
