Which do you prefer? The more detailed and larger MP designs, or the more cartoon-accurate classics versions? By cartoon-accurate, I'm talking about the design, not the colors in Starscream's case.
This is from the perspective of one who has neither, but is looking to buy one seeker and doesn't have the money for both versions. I will probably wait for the American Starscream to come out before I decide between him and his brother Skywarp. OTOH, the classics are very nice and more cartoon-accurate (except for the short stubby arms). However, the classics are rare enough to make them comparable to MP prices (Starscream will retail at Wal-Mart for $60.00, and a classics Starscream will run you in the vicinity of $40.00 these days).

I'm quite satisfied with my classic SS. Though paint application wise, MP looks cool too. I like SS, & i'm sure many others do too. However, I'm totally finally committed to get my hands on Takara GF SS rite now. So short answer - both rocks pretty hard. Just not as hard as Takara GF Starscream.

I guess it depends on what you're looking for. If you want to display what will probably be the best and most detailed version of hte character that will ever be made I'd say MP is the way to go.
On the other hand if you are a G1 purist and also like to transform your toys and display them easily then Classics are keen.
Personally the MP versions are my favorite figures just due to the scale, detail and general badassness of the figures. Classics Skywarp is my favorite toy since I can pose him, transform him and goof off with him when I'm bored.

I think they're too different to compare really. I understand the criteria for decision making, but they really are two completely different figures.
The classics versions are basically an exponential improvement of the G1 designs, and are rather comic/cartoon accurate.
The MP series is a detail over all kind of venture, and by that I mean the detail of the figure over the resemblance to their cartoon personage.
I have both versions of both figures (come on USPS, deliver my MP Skywarp today!) and I don't think I can pick one over the other. The classics are infinately better for picking up and fiddling with and it's hard to do that with something as complex as the MP series. The goodness of the MP series is found in it's being a masterpiece figure. I would say don't pay $40 for a classics Starscream, becuase that's rediculous. I know the fetch high prices these days but really, $40? MPs run you about $100 but are truly worth the price.
I know that doesn't help at all, I'd say if you can find a cheaper classics SS then go for both if that's within your means.

That's like saying, "which is better, a really good burger, or a totally awesome steak?" They both seem awesome (the Classics really is) but you could get about three of the Classics for the price of an MP. And then paint them.

Oh, I thought you meant 'should I get Skywarp or Starscream?' If that were the case, I'd say Skywarp, because he looks better in both versions, unless you really like Starscream.
MP vs. Classics, I would have to say MP if you could only choose one, mainly because they are much more impressive figures. But honestly I own both, and you should too.
Or, alternately, you could get Classics Starscream and MP Skywarp, or vice versa! But yeah, Classics Screamer's paintjob is pretty sub-par... *shrug*

Could turn that around and say that you can buy all three versions of the MP figures for the original price of the Botcon Box set... or two of each in the after market.
MP Skywarp does look pretty badass looming over my PC.
