unfortunetely the Seibertron toy gallery for Ratchet doesn't show the back of the box, but if you have the back of the box or box itself if you look at the picture of Ratchet his blade is on his left arm and you see the back of the blade where the paint detail is, which looks alot nicer then the inside of the blade when it's on his right arm. So I always thought it looked right on his left arm, since you see the paint and it looks more like a blade with the bevel. So I always thought that my Ratchet had his arms reversed, since the thumbs in the middle, it really doesn't matter they're both neutral hands. You may be tempted to believe that the picture on the box backing is reversed, but it's not. If it were reversed we'd see the inside of the blade and not the outside.
So it's my opinion that the toy (and sounds like all of yours too) is assembled wrong and his lower arms are reversed. So I'm gonna be taking my Ratchet apart and getting his blade on his left arm where it should be.
Somethings fishy about the pic and the toy itself, I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks for answering me on the location of the blade on your Ratchets as well.
Noticed something about movie Ratchett tonight..

Update:
Ok I got his arms reversed and he now looks like the back of the box. I noticed right away that now the screws are on the inside, the way the ones on his shoulders are, facing you. When I looked at the box again I noticed I could see the screw holes as well on his left arm, so either the pic on the back of the box is wrong, or the figure itself is wrong, but I got mine switched with no problems and he now looks exactly like the box backing.
for anyone who want to do it themselves it's real easy.
1.) take the three screws in each shoulder out with a small philips head screwdriver and put the screws aside.
2.) holding his entire arm except the shoulder gently wiggle his arm out towards his back. This will remove his arm, the door/window and attached panel.
3.) Don't get em confused.
4.) there's 3 posts that serve as a peg for the arm to swivel on and as the post beds for the screws. Pry his arm up the post away from the inside of the door. Do the same to his other arm and switch them. Be careful since the plastic is clear (window) any stress cracks would show in the window.
5.) Put him back together, just be careful screwing him back together since you're screwing into clear plastic. Nice and snug, don't get all He-Man and crack it by overtightening.
I'm much happier with him this way. I just noticed too that his blades an automorph, I've just been pulling it out. But the green panel on his inside forearm opens up, swivel the hand into his forearm and the blade comes out. *smacks forehead* All this staring at the pic on the back of the box and I didn't notice his left hand is missing.
So I think he looks cooler this way, for some reason, maybe just cuz it bugged me he didn't match the box. But now I'm tempted to fill in the screw holes and repaint him.
oh yeah, it felt ironic doing 'surgery' on Ratchet.
also forgot to mention that when it alt mode the red on his arms is now inside, so it's green exposed. Which is funny, that means the photo of the vehicle is from Ratchet with his arms switched one way, and the photo of the figure is one with his arms switched the opposite way.
Think I may have to definitely repaint him at some point.

I have no idea what the official word would be, but the back of the box is 2 seperate figures. One figure assembled one way can't do what the box shows. The blade on the left arm and the red stripes on the outside of the arms in alt mode. Except for the fact that the figure on the box has both sides of his blade painted, in which case I guess it would. Mine however only having one side painted can't do it.
I do find it interesting though. I learned alot about Ratchet lately. Like his feet aren't green like the box pic either.
makes me wonder how much stuff I'm missing on some of these figs.

Seems more likely to me that the figure on the box is assembled wrong. If you switch the arms around so they're like that, the screwholes are visible, and the red-on-green paintjob is hidden.
I'd never regard the box photography as in any way definitive. They've been known to use mis-transformations, and they so frequently use weak poses, that I wouldn't put a lot of faith in them.

well it's not so much faith in the box pics as much as being pretty sure it was Ratchetts left hand/blade that cut off Brawls arm in the fight scene, and since the back of the box does show it on his left arm, it just bugged me that my figure had it on his right with only half the blade painted.
As for the screw holes being so visable and also up on his shoulders, I'm just going to fill them in and repaint him.
