I haven't seen anything about these pics in the news section... am I the first to find these? That would be cool! More importantly - this figure rocks! I think he looks fantastic! A die-cast version of the Alternators version would have been even better, but this is just so unique! I just have to have one. I'd hate to miss out on both Black Convoy AND Clear Mirage.

Didn't see that there. Should this not have been in the news section??! I mean I know there's only 67 days left until the movie and all but this is a really cool figure! Aren't people excited up about it?
Yup, it's in the News Section. There's been a lot of news over the past couple days. Look on page two or three in the news section.

Yea, crystal would be cool to but I'm trying to be realistic.
Glass... Now that would be something!
Excellion, no worries. Things are moving quite fast on the News Section and Toys Forum lately so it's easy to miss stuff. Besides, I enjoy talking about BT Mirage.

Wouldn't it though. I think 2 figures that should get the glass treatment are Mirage and Ghost Starscream. Oooh, MP Ghost Starscream in Glass. Would have to be non transformable I think, but would still be quite the figure.

Can you imagine how much the safety laws would restrict that? Idiot children everywhere would be putting themselves out of commission.
I say they should do it.

Cheers!

Anyway two very important questions:
1. do we have any info on how many are being made? Like I said in my first post it would be a shame to miss out on this one as well as Black Convoy since I love Binaltech/KISS and want them all!
2. any word on what the packaging looks like?? I think Black Convoy was let down by that fishbowl packaging, which didn't even look as good as Hasbro's Alternators fishbowl boxes. Hopefully we'll get a proper box!
By the way, speaking of fishbowl packaging, has anyone figured out a way of opening said packaging without completely destroying it? Or do you just have to cut the bubble off the base?
P.S. Bonger you're crazy! A crazy genius! You would have to be soooooo careful transforming him though...

As much as I want the Mirage Ford GT, I don't think I want this one. I wanted to get the original version, with the blue and white paint scheme. No disrespect, it's a very nice looking figure, but it's down to a personal preference.

You could slice around about 50-60% of the bubble's base and take the toy out that way while leaving the bubble attached (I tend to leave it attached near the raised, cubic part of the box).
Alternatively you can take a knife to the underside and score the packaging, creating a trapdoor to drop the toy out of. This leaves the bubble entirely intact. If you're planning on playing with the toy then displaying it in package the toy should cover the scoring.

Ok, if any parent bought their kid a glass MP Starscream for like 200 bucks, they should just have their jkids taken away by DSS.
#2 You need BOTH Mirages!
#3 I open the bubble packaging by making the trapdoor in the bottom. I don't know why as I will never display them in box and will probably never sell any. However, just in case.
I learned my lesson as a kid. I used to cut off the art on the back of the boxes and put them in a folder. Little did I know that the boxes alone could have paid for a 65 inch Plasma...
#4 So anyone know what up with the $80 price tag. I got a freakin MISB BT Grimlock off ebay just 3 days ago for $36 shipped......

There's a couple different types of Exclusives that Takara produces. BT Mirage is basically a store exclusive, and many will be produced. Usually the eHobby Exclusives range around 10,000+ pieces. eHobby then sells many of them to other online retailers.
In comparison, BT Black Convoy was a Wonderfest Conference exclusive and 1000 or less were produced pieces.
eHobby Exclusives are typically packaged in G1 style boxes with windows. They include Stat and Bio cards just like the Takara toys. All instructions come in Japanese.
Historically, eHobby Exclusives start off moderately expensive and then become very expensive when the last ones disappear from the online stores.

The figure should have been composed of aerogel.
It would probably cost $10^5, but it would have been an intriguing piece.
