Question about G1 Megatron: Takara stamp

Postby prehistoryanimal » Thu Mar 08, 2007 9:39 pm

hi gang,

i recently got my hands on a G1 megs and i'm trying to figure out what version of megs this is...

here are some things that stand out:

1) it shoots bullets (came with 2 red ones)
2) no decepticon rub symbol
3) takara stamp on the back with no date (no hasbro mark)
4) no decepticon stickers except for a 'sticker-mark' that may have once been a decepticon symbol dead smack in the middle of megatron's chest.

any help would be awesome (^_^)

If I had to guess I would say you have a preproduction model there. Similar to the ones people here have been purhchasing off ebay. But thats just a guess..

Well the original and reissue Takara versions shot pellets. And I'm pretty sure said pellets were red. He originally came minus Rub sign like all the 84 figures. And stickers being missing is pretty common on loose originals. Pretty sure though that the date stamp should be near the grip and it should have one or two dates. Something from the 70s from the original mold release, and then an 83 stamp from TF release.

What color are the inner legs? If they are blue it might be the Microman version but with TF pellets.
