Question on safety of ebay sellers

Postby PadForce » Sat Jan 19, 2013 4:27 am

Morning all,

Quick question on buying from ebay as I dont do it that much. I know there is a thread on auctioniers outbidding themselves but this is different.

Is it in general very safe buying transformers from people listed in China /HK /Taiwan etc in terms of package arrivial a) at all and b) in tip top condition?

I ask because I am looking at ordering the new masterpiece Red Alert and Lambor but some of the sellers have a price around £80 (im UK!) plus postage whilst others go as low as £55 including free postage. I was just wondering if it is a case of too good to be true.

Finally, would I just be mugging myself off paying that amount for the Takara version and should I wait for the Hasbro? Some Hasbros do make it to the UK (I got my 20th Anniversary prime and HotRod MP locally) but some dont ie Grimlock / ThunderCracker who I had to get overseas. I intend to wait for Hasbro on Soundwave in case the Hasbro saving there is very significant given the ridiculous starting price.

Cheers,

Weapon: No Weapon
I've bought a good amount of Transformers and non-Transformers items from overseas ebay sellers. So far I havent had any items not come or come damaged. I usually look at the sellers feedback before I buy something from them. This usually tells me alot about the seller. :MAXIMAL:

Pay close attention to what "free" shipping they offer. I purchased two Transformers from Taiwan a few weeks ago and they were sent free of charge via EMS... The shipping did not cost me a penny, but since it was sent via EMS, I had to pay import taxes and EMS costs. In total it was around 37 euro which I had to pay still, which may very well be the same as what you would pay if you would have had it sent via air mail for example, so what is free shipping then in the end? I paid for it in a way still.

Hi both, thanks for the replies. Well it is good that you havnt had a problem! I think in general though the postage section is quite vague but I will do as much research as I can.

Cheers
