Shops advertising on here!
- Motto: "Don't do drugs, beer's cheaper anyway!"
OK doesn't it annoy you when on-line shops register and open up threads to advertise there products?
It isn't enough that they open one thread but the same thread in 3 ore 4 different Forums, and then they never post again.
So what do you think?

They aren't real people registering
They are spam bots
The same thing is on myspace, but there is porno spam bots.
It's highly irritating.
and thanks to those assholes, in order to do damn near anything on myspace you have to enter a CAPTCHA CODE.
and half the time it doesn't register that you got it right even though you typed it EXACTLY like it is.
It makes practicing HTML on there a pain in the ass

Happens on most forums. Never seen what the big deal is, personally. They register, post and advert and leave. Who cares? Same as any other advert: if you're not interested, don't click. I don't find those posts any more intrusive than the actionhq.com ad flickering on the right hand side of the monitor.

For anyone who hasn't seen Spotlight: Sledge (and why not?!), my gritty and dark fanfiction piece "Holiday" is posted here.

Some of the advertisments are for porn with pictures
Its not acceptable on boards that you know children will look at

Meh, if a kid is already here, he's probably about three mouse clicks away from a slash story involving Megatron, Arcee and the seekers. At least spambots post normal porn.

I deal with them as they come around.
You can change things with registering but they still manage to break through. We had them under control once and now they have been breaking through.
If you see one simply report it.

Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

There is a really good phpBB forum mod called Textual Confirmation. It requires a person to answer a simple question, or questions, when registering. Obviously, a spambot will never know the correct answer(s). I've installed this mod on my phpBB forum a few months ago and have not had one spambot registration since. It's so effective, I don't even need to use the captcha code, anymore. On my forum, I simply ask the person to type in "I am human" when registering. If they get it wrong, registration fails and I get an email automatically about it. It's really a good mod. I've given it to others, and they love it.
I can give it to you. It's very easy to install.

Yay for advancing the safety of the forums!

Heh, recognise, they should be shot. Honestly, IMO, they drive away business, rather than bring it in.

The bots do suck, but I also dislike the individuals that only stop by a forum to whore out their customs. "Here's a custom I made. If you want it stop by ebay and bid on it!" It's fine once in a while especially if it's an active member in a community, but it really bothers me when that's all someone posts.
