Have fun, oh, & also remember it's set quite a while after G1. The events of G1 have become mythology & things of the past by the time of Beast wars, so the characters shown (minus one, "you know the one, ehehehehe" to quote Tripedicus Ramhorn) are NOT the G1 characters of the same or similar names. If you wish to read more of the backstory & such there are a few comics depicting the events in the Beast Wars timeline, but none are adaptations of the series. The best one of these is Transformers Timelines: Dawn of Futures Past.
Wonderfulness in a bowl ^^
beast wars is actually before G1, i thought, its during the time that the autobots and decepticons where in statis awaiting for the volcano to awake them....basicaly it goes like this
the arc and nemesis crash to earth....some thousands of years later the maximal ship and predicon ship get there....they dont know the autobots/decepticons are on earth untill they find them....they know about them through cybertonian legends though.....the run of beast wars happens....they then leave earth....the autobots/decepticons await the rest of the millions of years in statis before they are awaken from the volcano....then G1 takes place

Earth wise you are correct. It is set on prehistoric earth, hence the lack of vehicle modes.
However I'm talking about on CYBERTRON.
Over the years of technological advance the transformers have become Maximals & Predecons & shrunk drastically in size, to the equivalent size of a large minicon (AAAAH! I made an armada reference!).
This is of course, a long time after the end of the Optimus Prime v Meg/Galvatron war.

Which explains how Ravage appears in season 2 upgraded, with speech, a better body, etc.
It also explains how Starscream was known by the Beast warriors. And how they knew Prime when they entered the Arc.

Sign Of The Cross wrote:Question about Skorponok: The toy transforms into an anthropromorphic figure, but he doesn't transform in the movie. He's always in alt mode. So, what happened there, why doesn't Skorponok transform?
They just needed to give the toy a second mode to transform into, otherwise it wouldn't be a very effective "transformer" if he only had one mode.

Megatron II went back in time to 1) destroy Optimus Prime in Stasis Lock 2)kill the human ancestors 3) secure vast quantities of energon to change the future of the battle where Decipticons lose. The Maximals follow to stop them.

The Maximals thought that, until they realised Meg's plan, & Dinobot, didn't think it was earth, leading Meg's to agree with him, however he then got cross with him & shot him over to the Maximals, via Scorpinok of course. So Meg's didnt realise it was the right planet until all the unusual alien activity. So yes, they did crash land, in a lot of confusion.

I never saw it either untill a few months ago. once the story starts rolling and thye writers start tying in what we know from G1 it gets really cool. when the Beast wars cast finds the ark with all the crew in stasis lock I got a chubby!

Beast Wars in the most intellegently written show aimed at children on the planet. Excellent character developement, real world issues incorporated, and main characters actually die, and you you feel it when they do!

never saw the whole of beast wars to be honest.
but as for scorpinok in the film.. he is actually the engine component to black out hin copter form. if you take a close look at black out (especially the toy) you see that the engine compartment gets "dumped" and that turns into scorpinok... hence all the caution, fuel and hot stickers on certain parts of him
