Yeah, I do prioritise it to watch on a Monday when I get home from work. I'm more curious as to where it's leading and what the big twist is.
Because there has to be a twist.
A twist is the only way to explain all the advanced technology.

Also Robert April and Christopher Pike. I loved Mudd last week.
I'm still watching, though haven't seen this week's ep yet. Was a bit bad last night. I struggle to see this as a Trek show, but I'm enjoying it enough if I treat it like a generic sci fi show. Though I really don't like the Klingon stuff. The prothestics make the actors sound really stupid when they speak and I pretty much just zone out during those parts. I have yet to see a member of Discovery's crew I like who wasn't on the Shinzou (I like Officer Ganglia, Burnham seems fine considering she had a Vulcan upbringing so she should be a bit more emotionless). Cadet is ok. Really don't like the rest of the crew. Security Chief deserved what she got. Wow what a stupid character. And I liked the resolution of the Tardigrade thing last week. That felt like a Trek moment.
Honestly though, I probably would have liked it better if it was Star Trek Shinzou. Lol. Gonna try to watch this week's episode tonight.
Even if all the advanced tech makes my inner Trekkie scream it's all way too advanced. Not the visuals, I'm fine with visuals not looking like TOS. It looks like an advanced Enterprise, which is what it should. But I mean the actual tech, like all those holograms. What I would have done is set it 40 years after Nemesis/Voyager. Make the recurring threat the extinct sixth member of the Xindii. Those flyers. I'm sure some good prothetics could have been made based on their skeleton we saw. They return and they are the ones who are causing problems.
Alternatively, the ongoing threat is a Romulan trying to alter history to stop the supernova and bring back Romulus.
Beast Wars FOREVER!

As long as Tarantino only directs and doesn't write. His last 3 movies he wrote were worthless garbage.
I wonder if Shatner will finally make it into the new movies, he's gotta be pushing 90, he won't be around too much longer.

The first season of Discovery is done. Overall, I enjoyed it. The season finale left me disappointed though. I expected a massive cliffhanger, instead, we get an Enterprise that looks incredibly dated against Discovery, which reminds us just where Discovery sits in the time line. The story did a good job of making me forget where it fit in, which made me look at it as a stand alone series, not weighed down by 50 years of history. But in those final moments, I was reminded of where it fit and how many inconsistencies that dredges up.

Hey guys I’ve been On a bit of a self-imposed hiatus for a while and for once for good reasons on January 1 I receive the Kidney Transplant I’ve been trying to get for 10 years and so far it seems to be doing pretty well
But since I’ve been gone I have been wanting to catch up on the series and can’t seem to find a decent way of watching it online for free,Any of you guys have a suggestion?

Re: Star Trek: The Next Thread
Been a few months but we have something newsworthy with another Star Trek series.
Patrick Stewart is back as Jean-Luc Picard (probably now an ambassador).
So hopefully this new series will take us into the 25th century and canonically deal with the fallout of Romulus' destruction and Spocks disappearance. Picard may be in but seriously, this needs John De Lancie back as Q.

I am curious to see where it does lead and how many others will make an appearance. I won't be surprised to see Brent Spiner appear as him and Stewart are good friends.
Definitely have to see Q make an appearance at some time too.

Picard back is awesome as it is but I'm really happy that we're going back to the future of Trek, after Voyager it just seemed that paramount wanted to dig up the past then see what else they could do.
Also I would love it if they just denied anything about the reboot films and say Spock is still there.

So it looks like Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth might not make it into the next film...

ComingSoon.net wrote:Two years ago, Paramount Pictures revealed that Star Trek 4 would be a time travel adventure that somehow reunited Chris Pine’s Captain James T. Kirk with George Kirk, as portrayed by Chris Hemsworth in the opening minutes of the first Star Trek reboot film. However, the disappointing box office of Star Trek Beyond appeared to slow down progress on the sequel. Now, Star Trek 4 has reportedly advanced far enough that deals are already being negotiated between the studio and the returning cast. The bad news is that both Pine and Hemsworth may be out of the film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramounts talks with both Pine and Hemsworth have fallen through over salary issues. The report indicates that Pine and Hemsworth want Paramount to honor their previously made deals, while the studio is attempting to “hold the line on a budget.” Essentially, the actors feel that they would be forced to accept pay cuts under the terms they were offered, while the studio contends that the franchise can’t afford to pay them on par with their respective DC and Marvel films. It’s a fair point that Star Trek Beyond lost money, but the entire point of this upcoming film was to unite the Kirks for the first time. And it simply won’t have the same resonance if two other actors step in for Pine and Hemsworth.
The studio doesn’t appear to be willing to scrap the movie over their potential departures, and the deals with Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, and John Cho are “expected to close.” It would be very odd to continue the reboot series with a new Captain Kirk, but not impossible. There is also the possibility that Pine and Hemsworth will return to the negotiating table if circumstances change.

I dunno, I really couldn't get into STD - i Mean Star Trek Discovery and gave up after 4 episodes. Whilst I am happy to get Picard back and happy for Patrick Stewart, I'm really not getting my hopes up any more. Sadly I feel I might be done with Trek as I guess I am with the Star Wars franchise.

So, while The Orville continues to be a far better Star Trek show than the actual current Star Trek show...
I would just like to say that the upcoming new series with Picard has me very hopeful for a return of my all time favorite Star Trek character:
Q.
Seriously, how did he not show up in one of the TNG movies?

I think insurrection and Nemesis could have been improved with Q being there. I was quite happy to see the character again in DS9 and Voyager.

So, with as much as I've been bashing Discovery, I thought it would only be fair to actually watch it and give it a chance, so I bought season one on digital.
I've just started episode three and I'm a bit mi d **** as to how this fits with trek lore, but I'm intrigued.
Still think whoever decided to redesign the Klingons needs to be shot.

So, I've finished Season One of Discovery, and I actually kinda liked it. I feel that you have to take it as a soft reboot of the Prime Universe for it to work though, and I think I'm fine with that.
See, I grew up as a TNG fan, I've never cared much for the Original Series. Sure, I've watched a handful of episodes, but I never found them very good. I did watch the OS movies, and those I liked, but they are about 30 years in the future of Discovery's timeline. I can see things still working, though Season Two looks to mess with Spock a bit. However, as long as the TNG timeline still works, I'm good.
Story wise, I actually like the Klingon/Federation War, though I would prefer my Klingons back to what they are supposed to look like. Changing them was stupid, and will never be anything but. I feel a lot of Klingon development from TNG and DS9 was tossed in the trash, simply so producers could play with makeup.
The Mirror Universe stuff I liked, it made sense, and doesn't bother me if it messes with the TOS timeline. Also, Jason Issacs's Lorca was amazing. I like Mirror Universe stories, so bring on more I say.
I've also watched the first two episodes of Season Two, and I feel like the show is doing a much better job of being a Star Trek show. These episodes both felt more 'hopeful' then the previous season. Something I feel is important to a Star Trek series. Captain Pike is a very welcome addition.
I must say, I'm almost surprised at how much I came to like this show. I still think The Orville is a better show, but Discovery is a good one.

New Star Trek Picard Trailer.
So we have Seven of Nine and B4/Data so far. Apparently Troi and Riker will also be appearing as well.
