I wonder if the Targetmaster will be included. If this is a version of Hot-Rod that can transform properly and easily I'm all in.

They never stood a chance, but the Autobots completely lost Cybertron by 2005. That, and the Decepticons had more, bigger and better combiners. I think the Autobot's greater number of mini-bots didn't really do all that much for them.
Back to the topic of MPs- I really thought the gold MP-5 release with Reflector was either signaling that we would soon get either a new Megatron or an MP Reflector. Either way would have been cool. This.... not so much.

It's true that the designers of the new MP Hotrod could (or did) take a clue of this awesome Animated toy.

Well what is sad is that animated rodimus was the starting point for the team when they made MP 09, they messed up along the way.
Dumb question, but an actual toon accurate MP Rodimus is impossible right? Because in the cartoon model his windshield becomes hs crotch and no one has ever attempted that in the transformation.

Is this cannon somewhere, or is it an alternate possibility? And is it part of the Marvel Comic?

Anyway, back to Hot Rodimus. From what we can tell, the shoulder width looks a little wide when compared to that of MP-9.

Not "ALL". Just a few (Optimus, Bluestreak, IH,Huffer and Mirage) The rest of the crew were in a state of "voluntary" stasis lock because they donated whatever energy/energon in their bodies to the 5 Autobots prior to the "final" battle.Of course Ratchet didn't join the fight. He accompanied "Sparkplug" to the A&E after his M.I.

But the Autobots weren't "warriors" like they ('cons) were. Military training trumps over civies "K".

This, exactly. The point is supposed to be that the Decepticons are overwhelmingly powerful even with a low number of forces because the Autobots aren't trained fighters.fenrir72 wrote:But the Autobots weren't "warriors" like they ('cons) were. Military training trumps over civies "K".
Was it just an excuse made to make the original run of toys thematically gel where the cars fought the other stuff, and they had a lot of car toys available? Sure, but that's ok.
Back on topic, Chuck mentioned the Targetmaster, and yeah I think this would be a great opportunity for Takara to release the excellent Offshoot mold that came with TRU Rodimus Prime.

Know what I actually liked MP09
Sure has its problems but overall i like the look of the mould. I bought the Hasbro version and just picked up the trailer to complete Rodimus Prime look.
Will happily pick up this new mould to be my MP hotrod and keep mp09 to be Rodimus Prime

Exactly! I can't understand the logic behind re-doing a character because "it could be done better" ahead of unique Decepticon characters.
Hell, if you want to re-do a character, re-do the **** seekers and give them coneheads! GUARANTEED MONEY FOR LESS DESIGN TIME!
Would the coneheads, Insecticons and Shockwave be the only decepticons to do before the movie that arent Combiners or Triple Changers?
I agree that more Decepticons would be appreciated overall, but I think one of the main reasons might be that the Autobots were more recognizable characters to the collector crowd. We-- or maybe I should say "the assumption is that we"-- remember the "good guys" from our childhood TV shows more than the "bad guys" (and, let's face it, the most memorable Decepticons have already been realized for this line). There were lots of "crowd filler" Decepticon soldiers in the early years, most of whom were Seekers and Reflector clones. On the one hand, TT might be afraid of collectors getting tired of the same mold; on the other hand, though, they should know that die-hard collectors will want a "complete" roster (even though the depth of "completeness" can vary among the community). In that sense, the Insecticons at least should be easy to do; there's no licensing issues with those guys.
However, since this whole line is mostly being made for the Japanese market, perhaps they're using a different standard to decide who to make. Maybe the car characters were more popular in the Diaclone years; I don't know. They made Star Saber; there might be a push to focus more on characters from the Japanese series.
