The Last of Us: Yay or Nay?

I know it's been out for a while, but I rarely buy video games new, because their prices are ridiculous. But I saw this title at my Walmart for cheap due to the Black Friday sales, so I'm thinking about it. I heard some good things. Anyway, do you recommend this game, or should I pass? I like games about zombies and survival, etc., but I also like shooting and racing in games as well. Is this game fast-paced or is there a lot of reading? How about replayability?

Avoid it like the plague. Its got a good story, i'll give it that. But its gameplay is shallow and its got next to no replayability. There are way better games you can buy at a fraction of the cost.

I hated it, but then I didn't like the Uncharted games either. The Last of Us just felt like another Uncharted game to me.
It's worth a rental for the opening. It's pretty sweet how they introduce you to the zombie outbreak; you get that feeling of everything going from normal to WTF insanity all around you. Then it suddenly jumps decades into the future, and instead of trying to survive a zombie outbreak, you're walking around fighting non-zombie humans like every other game. It felt like a bait-and-switch.

A bit of a necrobump, but I say Yay on this one. The story is really good, but the gameplay caps at "decent." I think it's definitely worth checking out, at least.

its by far one of the best games on the PS3. If you want a really good story that actually gets you to care about the characters then get it but if you want a mindless run & gun like CoD or halo then avoid it. Graphics are amazing, the story & pacing are great & the writing is better than anything coming out of holywood these days. The gameplay is nothing special its your standard 3rd person game but its solid none the less & everything else makes up for it. It has new game plus so there replay value but there arent many trophies so if your a trophy whore you wont be happy. It was the best game i played last year, just barely beat out splinter cell black list.
