If I remember correctly wasn't Sky Lynx the product of another toy line and brought into the line like Omega Supreme? I think that's why him getting an encore release was a big deal. So I don't think Sky Lynx was ever originally conceived to have a bot mode

Which is why I think he would benefit from a redesign that would bring him more into the fold.

Oh definitely, I'd say go full hog and a bot mode for each component and perhaps a combined robot mode for good measure

Yup, Sky Lynx and Omega Supreme were originally by ToyBox. Of the two only Omega Supreme was released domestically. Plus, that version was licensed by several European companies, like UK's Grandstand as Convertors Omegatron. As a whole that resulted in Sky Lynx and Omega Supreme, like other non-Takara molds except Shockwave, not being released as Transformers in Japan. Somehow they did get featured in the cartoon, probably because they weren't owned by Bandai.
But this tale has a tail... no, not yours Sky Lynx! Turns out the designs were outsourced to Tomy, so copyright defaulted to them when commissioner ToyBox folded (probably around Sky Lynx' original G1 release. He and Ransack could be drinking buddies :lol:

) Fast forward to the merger and an attentive assets employee, and the rest is history.

And need I remind you the glorious Sky Lynx got a handsome humanoid mode in Combiner Wars:

IMO, Titan would be too much. Commander would be just right. Also, Titan is (or should be) a class reserved for city bots only. (I conveniently don't count the combiners.)

Tidal Wave works as a Titan, since he is the Decepticon equivalent to Omega Supreme.

An original character would be too much of a risk I guess.
It's also unfortunate that the Activision ____ of Cybertron games are discontinued. Because Cybertronian Omega Supreme and Cybertronian Trypticon would be so bad-ass!

Well, when they run out of citybots to make but still want to make titans, the next waves would be to make big-ass characters like Tidal Wave.

Four City Bots and two massive Partformers in Omega Supreme

and Tidal Wave

I'd be happy with the Titan Class ending with those six. Not every line needs to go on forever. Unless everything from The Revenge to Iacon is going to get it's own figure, this was always going to be a finite class of Bots.

I don't know, if Hasbro see money there, they'll keep making the titan class, also the point about lines can't go on forever? Titan classes aren't a line onto themselves they are just a price point. A price point that can be filled with anything hasbro wants to justify it the price like say G1 toon accurate voyager Class Dinobots.

I would slightly disagree. Titan as the name of the class pretty much indicates a big toy of some sort. As awesome as a matching set of voyager Dinobots would be, it would fit the price point, but not the name of the class.

If they do run out of ideas for the Titan class and want to go the route of packaging a group of figures, I would expect them to keep the price point, but change the name of the class.

Devesator and predaking want a word...After all Devesator is actually the same size as the other Combiners as is predaking. Neither are titans by that definition. Indeed only the four citybots are actual Titans.

Except when you're talking CW and POTP. Those two are definitely bigger than the regular combiners.

which is my point. Hasbro put devy and predaking into the titan class so there's precedent for a few curve balls

Though isn't Predaking supposed to be that big? At least in the comics I believe.

And you were missing my point. The name is titan class and every single release under that class so far has had at least 1 singular BIG robot mode whether they be city bots or combiners. Whether they were combiner size or titan size in the cartoon/comics is irrelevant. For the toyline, so far titan has meant in the very least, one big-ass bot mode.

So the only way a set of voyager dinobots would fit that class (specifically under the name titan class) would be as titan class Volcanicus, do you really want that? Now, rename the class but keep the pricepoint, then it would make sense for teams like the dinobots or other curveballs. The curveballs just don't make sense under the name titan class without a big-ass bot mode.

It'd depend on how the combined form turned out, but in theory a Titan-class Dinobot actually combiner sounds pretty cool. Might be tricky to get the proportions right with all the components the same size, though. Maybe adding another Dinobot to the torso might be useful, would Paddles, an upsized Slash, or a G1-ified Scorn fit in well with the set, or would an "extra"/"new" Dinobot upset the purists too much?

The Dinobots Combining upset them too much, yet so many people wanted it if customs and some "3P" figures are anything to go by :lol:
