It should be noted that it has moved and can now be found at either tfwiki.net or tfwiki.info and is now known as TFWiki.net or TFWiki.

While the old wiki is technically still at Wikia, it is no longer run by the folks who have been maintaining the wiki up to this point. As such, continue reading there at your own risk, because there's no idea yet what it'll eventually turn into. (Or if you hated the TF Wiki, feel relieved that it might now turn into something you hate less, I guess...)

Why did they move? Explanations can be found here and here. But to sum up: a combination of intrusive ads gone crazy, Wikia making little code edits that break things without telling anybody, Wikia officials coming in to do admin stuff without the permission of the real TF Wiki admins, and similarly sucky stuff.

If you had a login account at the old wiki, you'll have to sign up again using the same username and password at the new wiki, as it doesn't automatically carry over. But once you do that, all of your edit history and userpage/talk should then sync back up with you (but you'll have to port over your watchlist and preferences manually).

Anyhoo, doing my part to get the word out. Spread ye units of linguistic communication!

Can the old wiki be deleted at all?

No, it can't. Has to do with the GDFL license that it was created under. And it was decided that temporarily deleting all of the pages would be too much (they could just be quickly reverted anyway).

So, for better or worse, there's now two TF Wikis (well, two major ones) - the new one being run by most of the same folks that have been running it, and one still on Wikia under the control of whoever else steps up. Already they've been taking steps such as de-snarking some articles (I love how stuff Don Murphy actually said himself is considered too snarky to keep), and smushing together characters with the same name (I'm not the only one who finds that silly).

If you loved the TF Wiki as you remember it, check out the new URL. We even have a spiffy new front page, and a neat little website widget. If you hated it, stick with Wikia, and good luck...
