10: Super hard games that only allow two or 3 continues.
9: Games overseas we never get here ( Fellow Dragon Quest fans will know what I mean
)
8: Parents groups/Soccer moms/Censorship ****/Church groups/Liberman
7: Games that you need a smeggin' thick game guide you gotta spend $20.00 on to figure anything out.
6: Tomb-Raider 3rd person perspectives I see in tons of games now.
5: Games that have little to no ending, remember the "Congratulations!" ending on so many 80's games
4: Home versions of Arcade games that are nothing like the arcade it's supposed to be from, remember the NES version of the not so double dragon?
3: Having to pay $0.50 a game play as oppossed to $0.25, especially when said game orginally was originally $0.25 to begin with.
2: How people now treat buying video games like buying booze. I remember when I could go buy a video game, including violent gore fests, when I was young, and not having to whip out a driver's licence.
1: Sacrificing plot, replayability, fun factor, etc for fancy, photo-realistic graphics. I want fun games, not some movie on my console. I'll take Pac-Man over any Final Fantasy fanboy wankfest anytime.
Bonus: I also find funny how so many consoles are now having DVD players, online capability, and every other feature where one day, it will do anything except play games

it's why I;ve never beaten ninja gaiden 2 for the NES.
Wow, I thought that game was the esiest of all the series. I finished it in 2days, now 3, that was utterly hard, and I have yet to finish it, although I did get to the ship of doom. Now to keep with the topic, and while we are NG series, I hate the birds that swoop down, and hit you and make you bounce backwards making you fall down a pit.

I have tried one of the newer TMNT games, and I was glad I only rented it, as I couldn't beat it. It wasn't that I lacked skills, it was that it didn't have any decent in- game saving points. Iwould get to a point, die, and it didn't matter how far along I was in the chapter, I would start ALL THE WAY back at the beginning. It was a chapter with many levels, and I got so frustrated after a while and I figured that it really wasn't worth raising my blood pressure over so I quit playing it.
This is funny in a way, though I'm glad they changed it somewhat in the sequel. In KotOR 1 when you are a male and you go really darkside, enough that it starts affecting your face and eyes, Bastila still seems to make kissy faces and fall in love with you even though you look bad and you go against everything the Jedi stand for.

I have come up with another few:
I hate it in fighting games when the computer can pull off a really difficult move in the drop of a hat. For example, in Street Fighter Alpha 3(and probably other SF games), Bison can pull off the devastating "Psycho Crusher" and if your in mid-air/attack and don't have time to block it, it takes a WHOLE lot of life. I also dislike fighting Ryu Habusa in DOA 2. Habusa has a move where he kicks you up in the air, and almost every time he follows up by jumping up in the air, grabs you, yells "HAAAA!!!!", and does a spinning diving crash into the ground. It's a hard move to do, but luckily, isn't all that devastating.
My other stuff has to do with wrestling games. My wrestling game history is dated, most coming from PS1 and N64 A.I., so the gripes may have been corrected.
Annoyance #1 comes from WCW Mayhem. There's a really cool looking Mayhem arena on the title screen, but it can't be played, or unlocked that I know of! Why bother putting it in there if you can't play it?
Annoyance #2: Stupid A.I. partners/ opponents. In an elimination match with three or more people, whenever you go to cover an opponent, the other opponent will break up the pin fall. I cannot understand this mentality of the A.I., as I think they would find it beneficial for one less opponent to be in the match. Then there's tag partners that don't come into help you when your being pinned to break up the pinfall. And I hate tag matches, so long and annoying!
Annoyance #3: Ties into #2, but I feel it deserves a whole new category. The stupid A.I. that refuses to fight you harcore style. Let's say you don't want to fight in the ring, and want to get oustide and fight in the aisle way(assuming there is no count-out). Well, more often than not, the A.I. will decide that it doesn't want to do that, and will return to the center of the ring and stand there/taunt you until you get back in first chance they get. AGH!!! I hated that!

I agree with all three statements. Laugh all you want at this, I deserve the slings and arrows, but I was playing ... ugh, Power Puff Girls D fighting game. Honestly one of the best fighting games I've played in a while and does more with the two attack buttons then most games do with eight. Great story and an awsome web comic from a dude named Bleedman. Anyways, I was trying to beat the game on hard and it's doable up until you have to fight Invader Zim, Bell and something called Shiara Bell. The last one is damn near impossable. They one flaw in the game is the characters can over lap while fighting. For example they can get so close to you that you can't hit them, but they can hit you. It's almost like it's programmed to do just that on Hard as it owns me every time.
Secondly with Wrestling games, I agree. AI on either team in a tag team is a joke. The best part is in the newer Smackdown games. They built in a function that forces your tag team partner to either attack the legal opponent or the opponent on the ring apron. For example, if I want to pin the legal jerk, I tell my partner to go and attack the other guy. So he'll enter the ring and STAND IN MY PHAKIN' CORNER UNTIL THE REF KICKS HIM OUT OF THE RING!!! As if that wasn't bad enough the other team actually works well together and in comes the other jerk and I get double teamed.
In WCW Mayham (was that the first 64 game WCW made?) you could do your finisher to someone like 3 times before they finally would stay down for a three count. The only three people in the game that could put people away for the three after one finisher was Scott Hall, Raven and Goldberg.

Mayhem was the second to last WCW game ever made. The first WCW game for the 64 was WCW vs. nWo: World Tour. It was the first game to feature the popular 64 wrestling game controls(one button grapples, and then a simple direction + another button performs a move).
It was followed up with WCW Revenge, which I do believe is the best WCW game ever made(sadly, that's not a hard title to claim), but it was really good for a wrestling game.
Then for some reason THQ decided to update the roster and port PS1's WCW Nitro to the 64. I've never played Nitro 64, but I have the PS1 game Nitro and the sequal Thunder, and let me tell you, those two games have aged really, really, REALLY bad. Heck, I don't think they were that good to begin with, but I didn't have a 64 then and I was a big WCW fan, so I kind of accepted them.
After that THQ lost the rights to WCW or something to that extent, and they went on to make WWF Wrestlemania and No Mercy for the 64. EA acquired the license, and made two WCW games after that.
They made WCW Mayhem, which was decent, but wasn't as good as the first two 64 titles. I was actully thinking about pretty cool but poorly implemented feature that you could actually recreate a pay-per-view event by putting in a code. It didn't pan out too well, specifically because the event Mayhem took the place of World War III that year, and when you went to play the pay-per-view Mayhem, the arena was World War III. Oh, and the backstage, which was the really huge feature in the game, was only a random single square room with no interactivity, and the only reason to go back there was to get the taser. Ah the taser, that's a bit of wrestling nastalgia for me.
After that, they put out WCW Backstage Assault. Now I am going to rightly assume this game was rushed out of production for two reason: 1. It was released in the twilight months of WCW, and recieved very little promotion besides "sponsoring" a Pay-Per-View and getting a few mentions on the show. There wasn't even a commercial. 2. The graphics were actually WORSE than Mayhem's were(I'm going by the PS1 games here). It's kind of sad, cause Backstage Assault was really a pretty novel game. No ring, instead you ran around backstage. And you could pull the sinks off the wall, knock the mirrors to the floor, break up tables and weight benches, etc. There was a PS2 game planned that looked really, really cool(I still have the PSM it was featured in, I could scan it if anyone wants to see what it would have looked like, concievably), but WCW went under, and the game never saw the light.
Minor "Did you know": There's an early game for the PS1 called "Power Move Pro Wrestling" that was done by Yukes(developers of the Smackdown series), that you can clearly see how it laid the seeds for the Smackdown engine.

I do remember Power Move Pro Wrestling. When I was first able to try it I thought it was the grail of games.

I remember when my friend got WCW vs The World. The graphics were awful The Giant was an unlockable character and didn't look anything like the Giant. I remeber with Benoit, you could do a Super Bower bomb right off the bat and beat anyone in under 30 seconds.

WCW vs. NWO: world tour did have dated graphics but it revolutionized with the move sets and plenty of World famous asian wrestlers. Revenge was awesome I loved that sting Intro. But the one thing that pissed me off about revenge was DDP the Diamond cutter was weak as hell. The thing I was most upset by Was the lost of the AKI to develope the games I prefer the AKI developed games over Yukes any day.

Oooh! Oooh! (Waves hand excitedly) I got some more!
Games that you wish you could play, but sadly don't come for your console or computer. (i.e Transformers- I have a computer and X-Box, but no PS2)
Games whose enemies use the same 5 phrases over and over AND OVER AGAIN to taunt you. Sometimes this is used in a good way, when the VAs have very good voices/dialog and it actually adds. (i.e. Halo and Jedi Outcast) But there are times it becomes extremely annoying, when it is done with VAs with bad voices/dialog. (i.e Jedi Knights: Jedi Academy)

Here's an annoying thing: games whose bug- and hacker-filled betas you can play for free and do your best to help the company fix up their product, only to have to wait to get new items/characters/map/game modes which you have to pay R/L money to access. Gah!

Here's one that's cropped up fairly recently: cliffhanger endings. If it were a storytelling device, fine - but more often they reek of, "We ran out of money/time" or "We're shamelessly franchise-building; if you want the last third of the game you just blew fifty bucks on, you'll have to buy the sequel!" That's... really annoying.
In the wrong hands...

Exteel, right? That happens to suck. But I'll be getting a job this summer, and I'll only be saving up for a car (Which my uncle already owns, a broken down ol' Lincoln. Spend a couple thousand for repairs, and the thing'll be my pimpmobile) and insurance for said car, so I'll probably have money to drop on extra stuff for Exteel.
But hacker-filled? I didn't know about that.

I wasn't talking about Exteel. I was referring to Gunz, WarRock, and many of those Korean-imported translated currently-in-beta-stage RPGs.
And good luck with the car!

Gah!
The only foreseeable problem with it is that the EPA gave it a rating of about 10-12 MPG, so I'll be spending some pretty pennies on gas.
But it's a Lincoln 1978 Continental Town Car. That's gotta count for something.

The classic Pimpmobile. I think Huggy Bear had one in the Starsky & Hutch movie. And we all know Huggy Bear is the Nexus of Street Cred.

beating a game four or five times just to get a few extra costumes or some half assed concept sketches (ok, they really aren't half assed at all, I just didn't want to use "extra" twice in the same sentance)

not picking up that specific quest in order to continue, then having the game autosave and get you stuck and make you start over. a la KOTOR, when on Manaan. if you don't get the quest from the Selkath in the cantina to find out if the Sith are teaching Force sensitive Selkath the dark side of the force. then you infiltrate their base and find that every time you goto the tribunal to get out of going to jail you have no way of convincing them that the Sith are evil and that you are vital to saving the galaxy. So they execute you and it's game over.

Hey man, Barrel Rolls FTW. If I hadn't done one in real life when my friend hit me with a minivan when we messed up a stunt for a film project for school, I would have got hurt big time...

Don't know if it's been listed yet, but...
In 2D games when an enemy respawns almost immediately after it's off the screen. Say your going up a mountain, kill an enemy, go up a little more, get knocked down a ways, and have to kill the same enemy again, get knocked down, kill the enemy again, so on and so forth.
It's kind of hard to explain, but if you know what I'm talking about, you know it's annoying.
