Nice photos. Buy why is Shockwave's gimmick a spring-out toilet brush?

I know you were being facetious, but I wonder, is it truly obvious? I mean FOC Soundwave clashes just as much with the aesthetic but he too is a generations toy. Magnus is IDW and the upcoming Siege toys have that gritty detail to them. So with them all clashing somewhat I didnt feel one was more out of place.
For me, so would say yes. It's most obvious in how the Gimmisk is portrayed, and in the artistic style of detail elements and facial structure, as well as to a lesser extent the way the color palatte is used. Take for example the photo of Shokwave and TR Megatron. Shocks is a very vibrant color tone while the TR figures are muted, and thats true for most TR figures. Arguably, evwn the pink Misfire is still a more dull satin finish compared to the Cybervers color. Lao, the Generations figures have very squared up, blocky facial features with neutral ecpressions, whereas Shoxkwave has this furrowed brow thing going. Thats one of mt biggest nitpick of thevfigure is the headsculpt.
I suppose I coucld say though, if this were my forst Shockwave and I didnt have any of the previous Shockwaves, I would probably be pretty happy with this one for now. Hard to say if I would take this over the Battalion Shockwave, but with that option I would Definately be invedting in a Knee kit.
I totally get what you mean about the colours. I feel it also is what makes him most at odds. Interesting how just a palette can make a change.
Aout the brow, the warior has that but this Ultra does now have the brow go into the eye so its not as bad.
Anyways, I found this on Facebook,

Thanks Death, though living in Canada means I no longer have decent outdoor lighting by the time I get back home from work. And my new phone's camera sucks hard (I dislike Apple, but i gotta give it to them, their phone cameras are great!).
As for the gimmick, well it is supposed to represent energy blasts coming out of it. Like it is frozen in time, like a blast effect. Now whether it pulls it off is another thing.

Huh. With Devy,, he doesn’t look that bad. If anything, Shockwave makes the Starscream figure’s rounded, bloated feet and chest stand out more.

Nope. Proportions particularly in the legs look too cartoony and exaggerated but it's up to you in your own collection. I saw it for sale in a nearby toy shop in Ely last week and passed on it as I simply don't like the look of the figure and some things about it just bug the hell out of me (the stupid brow, the proportions, the alt-mode, goofy arm-cannon.
Looking at that Devastator pic though Shockwave goes with PotP Starscream better than the others cos Starscream looks equally silly and quite balloony like a cartoon.

Only because there's no other Voyage CHUG Shockwave of quality to offer and Hasbro knows this. If you look at my Sig Picture, you can tell that I initially had no problem with buying a variety of Shockwaves (it's not even including the 3 Legends class CW Shockwaves).
That's another reason why this upcoming SIEGE Shockwave is supposed to be a Leader class.
But I've grown tired of collecting everything they throw out there. All I want is a single Quality Voyager class Shockwave moving forward.
I only bought the 3 Legends CW one's because I seen them as cool little minions/Shadow play experiments. But I skipped that Prime version, that Battle-whatever crap at Walgreen's last Summer whose knees can't bend and I'm skipping this new Cyberverse one to.
Reserved Judgement for this SIEGE Version but I don't have my hopes up.

i'd say he almost fits, but his colours are just a smidge too saturated.
desaturate him by a few pantones and he'd work better.

Re: Transformers Cyberverse 2018 Toyline Thread
I think there should be some mention of his alt mode if we want to consider how well he fits in.
Sadly his alt mode is terrible. I actually like the Deluxe version of Shockwave enough to excuse his yoga/spider tank mode, but in voyager class, the cheating becomes much more apparent, especially how it pulls it off with less elegance.
There is a huge gap in the side where the extra arm has to store in robot mode, he looks even more like a robot on his hands and knees, and he uses the old method of the gun arm simply becoming the tank weapon which I hate. The deluxe gave each mode its own guns and looks better for it.
I'm not sure why they even chose that method since Shockwave has always had a backpack and the tank cannon could've easily just hid in there. It's almost like they had to do something different to justify another size class.

The colours just don't work for me. And the detailing is just a little too off. If I didn't have a Shockwave at all I'd probably be happy enough with him, but I have Prime Shockwave and this guy just doesn't quite beat him out.
A premium paint job just might make me grab him.
Also, posts of his alt. mode with the others would add tot he discussion.

I've seen that Shockwave in person and it's on the list of things to buy. For me the color and deco is right on, but there are some design queues that scream not CHUG. The pastel pink paint job and gun gimmick jump out to me. The alt-mode while fun is non traditional for Shockwave and very Tachikoma.william-james88 wrote:I know you were being facetious, but I wonder, is it truly obvious? To me Shockwave doesn't fit in with his own line, so he's a bit of an odd turduckhen. I have no problems mixing and matching lines. I have quite a few RID 2015 figures in my CHUG displays and my MP shelf would give some people an aneurysm. He looks like a cool and fun toy and will look good on a shelf, that's all that's really important to me

should say I checked and it was the Deluxe size SHockwave I passed on in the shop. I forgot that design came in two figure sizes. But I certainly wouldn't want the bigger more expensive one either.

While the newly announced Leader Shockwave arguably gives even the Masterpiece a good fight, this works almost well enough for a Voyager Shocky, the only thing I'd change aside from adding an elbow, would be darker colors, G1 toy colors would do wonders for this toy, as they'd balance out the kiddy aesthetic with the edgier deco.

here for anyone interested in the knees for shockwave cyber batallion
back on this thread topic
i don't know how to feel, see prowl and i see an articulated figure, and we know shockwave warrior(deluxe) and ultra(voyager) are properly articulated, also windblade...and thats it, they managed to get gimmicks and still have proper articulation
optimus warrior i think only lacks left arm because of the gimmick but shockwave ultra has the same problem so is not that bad
oh almost forgot the big optimus that i don't remember the class name...and thats it, everything else is so compromised by the gimmicks they suffer in so many ways they are not even comparable with the 1steps or the 3(or more) step figures from age of extinction or TLK, i as a kid was able to figure out magnaboss and tripredacus and i was 8 years old, how is that now a days kids cant even properly a 3 step? and they need figures this simple? as i said there are what? 6 proper figures? and this lien has more than 30 by this point
update: just noticed soudnwave and prowl have indeed proper articulation so yeah that goes from 6 to 8 figures that are decent, but still everything else is way too limited, optimus seems to have better articulation in the arms but nothing indicates knee articulation -_-
