Gigastorm's toy used the same dark gray plastic as Trypticon's original toy. Or perhaps slightly darker gray plastic, going by the comparison photos in Ryan's galleries (and that's if the G1 Trypticon seen in these pics isn't slightly color-faded):Emerje wrote:Oh, that's really nice! Makes me want to repurpose the original as BWII Gigastorm. I hope someone makes an upgrade kit with stickers (it'd most likely be for Selects Trypticon, but Gigastrom is technically dark gray not black going by the toy)

And maybe the lighting's throwing me off, but does anyone else think it looks like they started repainting him into Generations Selects Gigastorm, but gave up halfway? And if we're going to get GS repaints of past titans to make up for future titans being downsized, does this imply we'll get a long-awaited Metroplex reissue soon? Or has there ever been a glimmer of hope for a new Plex that's more G1 and less FoC?
Hasbro has no involvement with the Godzilla crossover. That's all TakaraTomy's doing on their own. Takara chose Optimus and a Grimlock-Megatron over Trypticon because it's Optimus and Megatron. They're the face of the brand, so Takara knows that those two are more likely sell better in the Japanese market, whom the Godzilla crossover is primarily aimed at.DeathReviews wrote:Though it raises the questions: If Hasbro knew they were going to re-issue this figure, and if they ALSO knew they were going to do a Godzilla/Transformer Xover figure, then why didn't they turn Trypticon into Mecha-Godzilla and sell him that way? Instead of giving us that goofy Grimlock/Megatron thing? A silver Trypticon/Mecha-Godzilla would have been boss...
