Bulkhead has proven to be a good bit of fun. He is pretty good, and the wrecking ball is lots of fun. I like that the shield ends up being sort of like his Animated counterparts back kibble with the back wheels of Prime mixed in there. There are lots of things to love, just wish a couple of things were different

Just goes to show it's good to have the latest data. In the mid 80s I remember my 4th grade teacher telling us that the Space Shuttle Crawler transport was the largest land vehicle. However it appears the Wheel Excavator has been around since the late 70s so she was about 6-8 years behind, to be fair though, we didn't have the internet back then

I grew up on G1.
I love G1.
I had G1 Metroplex.
I have fond memories of Metroplex as a kid...most of which was him being in two pieces but I digress.
I didn't really watch Cybertron. Mostly because I didn't know when it was on.
I have Cybertron Metroplex.
I want a new Generations Metroplex.
I love Legacy Metroplex though. I don't normally preorder retail figures so I'm not going to but I will be getting it.
I just like cool toys. I couldn't care less about not knowing the character or whatever else. So long as I can budget it in, I get it.
Going slightly off the main topic to what was discussed previously around the Kickback abdomen discussion with redecos and retools though.
Someone on another site asked me why I would want so many redecos of a figure. In this case it was about the missing Takara Optimus Prime from a few years ago and that I'd want it in Black Convoy colors, Universe Ultra Magnus colors, Powerlinx colors and so on. I retorted; why does anyone want a redeco to begin with? Thundercracker and Skywarp are just redecos afterall. But otherwise though, if I liked the mold once, I'll like it again as someone else so long as it fits the character it's redone as or if they already shared a previous mold like people were saying about Flamewar and Arcee. You can even make a new character and I'll like that too.
It's like I already said, I just like cool toys. I don't need any other reason to get anything. It's just that simple.
Legacy Metroplex looks like a cool toy. I've always loved how simple his design was as it means he cleans up perfectly. It just makes sense for something so large to not have any extra parts flapping about and he uses every bit of himself to turn into his alt mode for the exact thing its supposed to do. Nothing superfluous and completely utilitarian. That in and of itself has beauty in it.
Also. Am I the only one who thinks Prowl/Smokescreen should be done as Cybertron Crosswise and 2007 Decepticon Jolt? And Energon Towline from Ironhide/Ratchet? And I would very much like a Quickslinger from any potential Cybertron Ransack to whoever said that nobody knows who she is. I do. I know who she is and I want one. I still just want cool toys.
On a side note tangent. Yesterday I got to pick through a warehouse filled with new old stock toys in Miami. Ranging mostly from the 90's but there was also stuff from earlier. Yet there wasn't a single Transformer in sight. I was disappointed. Just boxes everywhere from Hasbro and Kenner and all these other brands and not really a single thing I wanted. No G1. No late G1. No G2. No Beast Wars. No Machine Wars. Not even any Animmorphs. No Battlebeasts. No GoBots. No Rock Lords. No Robotech. No Power Rangers. No Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad. No Lion Voltron. No Vehicle Voltron. No Gladiator Voltron. No Voltron 3rd Dimension. No Thundercats. No MASK. No X-Men or Spider-Man Toybiz TAS figures. No Batman TAS figures. No Megaman. Nothing. The most I found were like three VR Trooper figures.
If I knew for a fact it wasn't already picked over, I would've sworn it was already picked over before I got there. I guess the original owner didn't have good taste when amassing it all. I knew the guy who purchased everything through the owner of the store I "work" at/manage. We drove on down and ended up with quite a bit of stuff to drive back to SW Florida with. So it's not like there wasn't good stuff. It's just nothing I was personally hoping for. I took a 4x4 Rubik's Cube and an Alaxender's Star Rubik's puzzle to give to my nephew the next time I see him and a Crossfire game for the breakroom at work. My nephew memorized how to do a standard Rubik's Cube and I always wanted to get him the more difficult ones but kept forgetting. Haven't seen him in a few years though as he lives across country so I wonder if he'd even care. I didn't change much in my 20's so I don't think he would've.
All that sweat and dirt and nothing I wanted for myself. Just damn though.
My dumb ass forgot to take pictures of the lot after I had it splayed out on tables so sorry for the lack of haul pics. It's all in my "boss'" hanger so I won't have pics for a while unless I feel like going back to his house and I don't want to get another headache for a while so it won't be soon.

Super happy with the way Metroplex turned out. The large weapon more than makes up for him not coming with some sort of smaller bot since the Titans that do come with one don't come with much in the way of weapons. I like that they made the alt mode more complex and found a way to tie the weapon to worker mode in an interesting way. I agree with others that have said we'll probably see Drill Bit elsewhere, maybe as a small Deluxe, bonus points if he has a shield shaped like a Cyber key.
Interesting thing about Inferno on the box, he has six regular ant legs instead of his arms and legs forming the legs.

I wonder what his transformation will be like? Maybe they can still go on the arms, but there are fake one in the art on the front of his legs. On the other hand Scavenger has six regular ant legs so maybe they're planning ahead to share engineering?

That's actually pretty funny, intentionally choosing two insect bots for this. But it isn't a weed eater it's a Sparkdrinker, that's the actual name of his weapon. Very metal!
That's a long ways up!
Unicron Trilogy was the first major collaboration between Hasbro and Takara that wasn't Takara importing something from Hasbro (G1, BW) or Hasbro importing something from Takara (RID). It really isn't correct to say one name is "original" when they both would have been basically simultaneous, certainly pre character reveals.

Seconded. I've never understood the argument that non-G1 figures wouldn't sell nowadays because they don't have 'recognition' to general audiences, when G1 obscurities like Doubledealer, Triggerhappy, Rotorstorm, and Impactor, who have the same amount of recognition, get mainline figures and no one applies the same logic to them. Their appeal is that they look awesome and are great toys.
Also. Am I the only one who thinks Prowl/Smokescreen should be done as Cybertron Crosswise and 2007 Decepticon Jolt?
I was thinking '86 Jazz

Their similarities have been demonstrated before:

Indeed. However I was going by the Smokescreen connection with the mold. That and I've heard less complaints about the Datson mold breaking than I have the Jazz mold.

Have no attachment to the figure and won't be getting it, but I reckon it looks pretty good - one thing I'd be interested in is how well he locks into place in alt mode. I'm glad I can take a break from Titan figures due to room and wallet issues.
He looks pretty solid but the price tag is a tad high...
And for those who complain cos it's not a G1 figure - they kinda ran out of characters to do at that scale - maybe a decepticon counterpart to the ark would be nice - otherwise if they revisit previous characters, think metroplex and fortress suffered the most. Maybe shorter, squatter, less floppy versions that are closer in height to skorponok would be nice.

My personal prime collection so far in descending order of how great i reckon the toy is -
FE Prime, Silas Breakdown (Powerizer), Dreadwing (Powerizer), FE Bulkhead, Voyager StarScream (Powerizer), Ratchet, Soundwave, Arcee, Voyager Megatron (Powerizer), Wheeljack, Thundertron (Powerizer), Ultra Magnus (Powerizer), Knockout, Cliffjumper, Bumblebee,Airachnid

I have the original Cybertron Metroplex, this just looks like an upscaled version without minicon ports or cyber-key gimmicks soooo ... I'm good.

While I'm very happy for everyone who is excited for this, I kinda feel like Hasbro scraped the bottom of the barrel for this one. I get they want to release a yearly Titan, and after Scorponok were out of G1 options (The Ark was a bit of a stretch), but choosing this guy? Maybe my disinterest is centered around the fact I didn't watch any of the cartoons from this trilogy, and only picked up some of the more interesting looking toys.
But, this probably does mean Tidal Wave is just around the corner, which is cool. He was memorable in the Armada video game.

As far as G1 options go, they never released an actual G1 Metroplex. The one we got initially was of the game design. A titan class G1 styled Metroplex would sell fairly well I reckon.

Sorry, dissapointed.
Will get him because addiction.
What I would've wanted is a lot of Micromaster compartments and ramps, ladders, stairs, mini stations.
But he's just an upscaled version of Cybertron Metroplex (who I have to rebuy now -_-)

Compromise- a last Autobot that core Optimus Prime can ride

Seems the price increase (which is going to be the standard for the class size going forward, so if you want a G1 Titan...suck that price up)
Though, have all third party websites listed it for that price? After all some of the smaller size classes got put up for their old price.

I don't think that's a Titan, you might need a new class for that. Mainframe only fits in the Ark when he's completely collapsed into a cube, and he's only Deluxe sized.

I want a Nemesis to go with the Ark.
They can do more G1 if they went stupid with it and made every early season combiner a titan to match with Devy.

I think it's more likely that they'll just do a new scale devy (and eventually predaking)
The last few G1 Titans are more obscure (not counting Metroplex/Fort Max redos) with the likes of Grandus or Galaxy Shuttle. Nemesis is a potential, though I wonder what else they could reference with that toy (or would they just make another trypticon that turned into the Nemesis).
Interesting thought, you could feasibly turn any Transformers vessel into an actual Transformer...maybe a smaller scale would allow for easy display mind.

Though, looking at them side-by-side now, I'm seeing less similarities than I thought.
The rest of the body was a super skinny redesign of G1 Metroplex in a similar vein to all the Classics/Universe/early-Generations redesigns, while FOC Metroplex went in the opposite direction of being an extra chunky design.

Also note the G1 Autobots in his cockpit:

His electronic sound clips were taken from the game, but that was a bit of cross-promotion from the Hasbro team who, at the time, didn't care that the Titan toy and the FOC character used different designs.
The Covenant of Primus book may have used the Thrilling 30 Titan Metroplex design for FOC Metroplex in one piece of art, but that was a repurpose, used to promote the toy that came out that same year. The Devastator seen in the art was also very G1-looking.
More bizarrely, it also used the Earth-based Prime Ironhide design and the Earth-based Binder of Revelation designs for Optimus and Megatron, despite the art depicting a pre-Earth scene.

When the ARK fist came out I felt the same way, once I had the ARK in hand I'm not so sure because it's quite unstable in alt mode.

They can do more G1 if they went stupid with it and made every early season combiner a titan to match with Devy.
wouldnt mind a Liokaiser like that with Voyager sized component -well preferably old voyager size. Plus maybe the combiners with their shells.
Also a Grandus Maximus (despite its alt mode and that he isnt titan sized) but the titans dont seem to be designed with fun base modes in mind for the most part and Grandus alt mode is probably even a bit more lackluster. They could always make more reissue starconvoys or do a better attempt than the last takara thing. If Haslab starsabre did well, I could see Grandus/Sky Garry being a thing except Sky Garry would probably be undersized like Victory Leo.
