As characters, Star Saber and Dai Atlas were bland, cliche, and over-glorified. They were cookie-cutter Autobot Leaders designed to the be the best of the best with no faults, no flaws, no relatable characteristics to those who aren't so great. The were only great for the sake of being great.
Though, their designs looked very cool.
Ginrai, however, was, and is, probably the BEST of any Generation 1 Autobot Leader. He went from being an Average Joe to rising to greatness for his own merit. And even when he became this awesome guy that the likes of Star Saber and Dai Atlas were from the very beginning, he retained all of his relatable characteristics to prevent any stagnation of his character. It even helps that he initially refused to take any part in the Autobot/Decepticon war, and actually had to work to achieve his leadership role once he did join them. Though, his efforts were never in any direct attempt to take over as leader, so he only earned the title by Hawk seeing the leadership potential in him after his latest accomplishments (which were no simple tasks either, and he only accomplished so much by being such a great team player with his comrades).
to be quite fair,TF Zone Diatulas only received one singular episode to develop his entire persona character. their is only so much prsona traits that can be squeezed out into a 22 minute cartoon episode. Had the zone cartoon received a complete cartoon series. then theirs no diubt Diatulas would have received more persona.
I disagree with TF Victory Starsabre not having a decent persona. starsabre wasn't only presented in the victory cartoon as the ultimate goody too shoes & almighty leaders persona.
I've watched all the TF Victory cartoon episodes decades ago. Starsabre was the folling persona. (1) Starsabre was a father figure & parent to that human boy.when the decepticons killed his parents. their were scenses shown of starsabre changng diapers & taking on the parent role.
their was a father & adopted son bond going on here. (2)Starsabre wasn't just the leader in this victory cartoon. starsabre was the most experienced, mentor & he was training all the autobts in the beginning of the victory cartoon to be warriors. starsabre had a very in-experinced autobot crew of newbies. in the first dozen episodes, starsabre would interrupt fights between his teamates to save them from dying. It takes a lot of courage, strenght, experience to take on a entire decepticon crew because your warriors can't fight & need training/experience. (3) when Godginrai got rebuilt, something happeened & he received brain/spark damage. starsabre had to step up to the plate & now take care of a mentally challenged former leader called victoryleo. it couldn't have been a easy task to baby sit victoryeo, take away victoryleo's rank & have his raw power under watch & key. (4) starsabre did a excellent job in training his rookie/newbiew autoot crew. by giving them all the training, expierence & guidance they all needed to be great fighting warriors. starsabre wasn't just the leader,he was a mentor & trainor to his newbie/rookie crew. (5) since starsabre was a brainmaster. he came from planet master. starsabre & the other 3 brainmasters, originally started off in their lives as tiny robots. who took on intense training, built bigger robot bodies, trained their mental & physical powers to rise to the ranks in the autobot army.
pushing ones self to its limits requires ton of devotion, persona & inner strenght.
As far as the whole Master force godginrai persona goes. it was never really explained in the cartoon series. how much of each humans persona got copied when all the autobots became aware or woke up or gained sparks by copying some of the humans patners persona traits & mixing that into their robot persona.
it was never really explained how much or how little human persona got copied when the robots gained sparks or woke up. for all we know the robots who gained sparks could have been totally different in persona & copied nothing from the human partners after they gained sparks or woke up.
ginrai the human was a great autobot leader on earth with a very 3-d persona. sadly the writters never explained how much of the humans's persona got downloaded into the autobots sparks memory/programs when the robots got sparks or woke up. for all we know the robot spark ginrai could have been a new persona completly different from the human ginrai's persona.
I like to imagine/speculate that victoryleo got brain/Spark damage in the upgrade body episode in victory. due to his spark being created upon weird circumstances in the masterfocre series. which consisted of a autobot spark copying some memories & persona traits from it's human controller/master. I like to assume/speculate the victoryleo upgrade couldn't handle nor able to transfer the unique ginrai spark persona creation process. thus victorylo got some memory loss which quickly lead to irreverseable brain/spark/memory damage/loss,that seemed permanenrt leading to reduce ranks & ccnstant supervision due to prevent victoryleo from wrecking everything around them.
since starsabre was only shown in his victorysabre super robot form in the transformers zone cartoon episode. I like to assume/speculate that starsabe absorbed victoryleo into his systems & became permantly fused as victrysabre. most likekly due to victoryle being too hard to control, too un-stable,too much brain damage. starsabre most likly didn't have the time to baby sit nor the ower to control/keep victoryleo under wraps/on a lease. so at some point starsabre tricked victoryleo into a permanet merger, which resulted in victoryle being absorbed into starsabre systems. perhaps stasabre took away victoryleo's spark & permantly merged with his body parts. similar to what happened in the ROTF movie. when jetfire & optimus combined in the rotf movie. only the victorysabre fusion became permant in zone & not as removable lifeless body parts like jetfire's body parts were in the ROTF & DOTM movies.
