Transformers/New Avengers #3 response (Spoilers)
Just picked up the new TF/Avengers #3 today. So far i think its the best of the series. For starters something actually happens. The plot line wasn't too bad, best i've seen in a TF crossover issue in a while, but the panel to panel writing sucks. Prime, Megs, Doom, Cap America, and especially Ramjet were horribly written. And the art, well every panel somehting just looks off. Like Ramject turns ever so slightly off of a straight on straight on view and they give such a dark shadow on his face that he looks like he only has one eye and a hole. Humans were drawn better, but still not great. And the cover to issue 4 has spidey's eyes upsidown on his head. I can understand the TF being off, these artist do specialize in humans, but this is a human, and its the D*** finally cover! I must say that Marvel cannot pull of a cross over with a smaller company. This is neither campy nor serious enough, but a lackluster mix of both. From now on, any cross overs with major companies where idw isn't in charge i'm just gonna pay the comic store to let me read them there.

Not impressed.
What I hate the most is that while fighting the giant robot species practically all stay in their alt modes, which seem to have no offensive or defensive weaponry to speak of, unless you're a jet.
Runamuck sits there and just takes Wolverine chopping at his windshield??? No remarks, no threats, just takes it??? What???
Too much time in alt modes, not enough time in robot modes. Too much Avengers trying to beat the Deceps which they can't, and too much the Autobots drive around and watch.
Why the hell couldn't Prime and Bumblebee just blat the cons? Their juice instead powered Iron Man to do it? Wha???
The only redeeming part for me, was Prowl taking initiative, and trying to accomplish something, and his dialogue with Ramjet actually relates to our Prowl talks in other IDW related threads. The only redeeming part for me...
Well, the good news is, it's almost over. Only one issue left of this torture. I tried to like it, but I can't. The world's seem to be written and drawn too far apart. Not enough thought went into it. The setting is boring, and we are still stuck in the same place...
I hope that IDW and Marvel learn from this mistake. No crossovers, or GI Joe/TFs.
I shudder to think it, but I can only imagine that there is a Marvel Zombies/Transformers crossover in the near future. Maybe it would be better than this. Anything would be better than this!!! And I like's to read about Transformers, and the Avengers, just not together...

I have to say this was actually a slight improvement over the first two issues.
Slight.
Perhaps it's my disdain of Stark, but what a freaking hero! There he is with a huge IM suit which just happens to be able to connect to alien robots!
To me, this isn't New Avengers/Transformers. This is simply New Avengers with a minor guest appearance by Transformers. It's clear that this series is more Marvel centred than IDW centred.
This issues only redeeming factor was the exchange between Prowl and Ramjet. Looks like after all these years Ramjet is going to get some decent characterisation.

Nothing that is required reading for the upcoming Ramjet Spotlight?
Awesomesauce; Use it, you know you want to.

NOt really. Like I said before Burn, it's more for Prowl's characterization than Ramjet's, but it does reveal ramjet being some sort of displaced commander, who has been demoted as of late, and he's a bit sore about it (like Prowl).
They seem to be setting him up to be Starscream-esque.

Don't tell me they're going to replace Star scream with Ramjet. Blargh.
Has there ever been any decent TF Crossovers?

Geez, I wonder what he had to do to be demoted...

As proper cannon comics? I'd have to say no.
AS campoy tributes and Fan-wank? I'd have to nominate the GI-Joe/TF crossovers from Devils Due.

I'd hardly call that "decent" characterization...

Yeah but to me we've seen plenty of Prowl over the years. Ramjet's always just been that bumbling incompetent conehead.

Got the issue yesterday, and it's not the worst crossover ever in my opinion(80's Joe/TF crossover, seriously, bleh), and I guess it's ok. I mainly got it for reasons of "Transformers have finally come back to Marvel", and cause it might prove interesting.
I'm also wondering what's up with all the alt. mode battling. I could understand the Autobots doing that in issue #2, but the Decepticons? They have no love for fleshings, why can't they just transform and stomp 'em out? And they're guns are probably pretty powerful, and Prime even said the Decepticons were running on a higher energy level than normal, so they could have spared it. That would have been more entertaining.
I did snicker at Cap singing. Probably cause it came outta nowhere.
I also enjoyed Megatron swiping Doom aside, but their team up was extremely short lived.

To me this entire crossover has been Marvel's attempt to win the most cliches' ever in a single crossover in Guiness Book of World Records. Two seperate universes suddenly becoming the same one for the duration of the cross over and not after? Check. Mind Control? Check. The good guys fight each other? Check. Someone having planned for the contingency even though he was never shown to have done so? Check. Super villain teams up with the heroes only to double cross them? Check. Said villain teams up with the other villain(s) only for one of them to double cross the other? Check! Convienent way to beat an insurmountable foe that makes little sense? Check and check! At this rate issue #4 will be wall to wall cliches!

Are there any left for it?
Good guys shake hands at the end saying we'll meet again, as allies.
Bad guys all disappear miraculously when they are getting thrashed to pieces, as they doons day device gets ready to explode.
