Vaio Computer Problem

Just got my Vaio a few months ago and this morning when I turned it on it did its start up items and then froze when Vaio Startup Central came up and froze.

I am using it right now in Safe Mode with Networking so it isn't a hardware issue, imo. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Try removing Vaio Startup Central from your start up items? Did the same problem occur more than once? What OS are you running?

Doing so in safe mode won't truly remove it from the computer and it will freeze in normal mode before I get the chance to do so. I went and took it to Geek Squad a few hours ago and they are going to send it to the service center.

You should still be able to remove it from your startup folder/registry in safe mode.

>_< Why did you do that? Geek Squad won't do much to help you other than format your hard drive and reinstall Windows, with or without your personal files and documents saved.

Plus Geek Squad has been proven to steal information, sell hard drives, etc.

We can't help you if you won't let us.

All you had to do was tell us which operating system you had, what discs you had, etc.

Someone could've walked you through it, and without much trouble, but now you're going to pay Geek Squad through the nose, for something you probably could've fixed on your own with our assistance.

Why are people so friggin' impatient these days?

Hearing about how Geek Squad "rips you off" makes me glad I go to my brother-in-law for support (he works at a company's tech support).

I went again to Best Buy yesterday to give them my adapter and mentioned to an actual tech that the woman working the counter on Wednesday seemed as though she knew nothing about computers. I told her that I was informed it would be going to the service center and she looked at the paperwork and it says that they are just doing a diagnostic. I let her know that it did run good in safe mode with networking and she immediately knew (like myself) that that meant it wasn't a hardware or internet problem. I informed her that I was 99% certain that it was the start-up program and she says that they will fix and/or remove the program from the computer and contact me asap.

Removing the program is something you could've done on your own with no extra cost to you.

You need to find Windows Vista (which I assume is what your PC came with) and reinstall Windows, clean, without added bloatware.

eBay an Anytime Upgrade Disc. They contain all of the full and different versions of Vista, your key is the only thing that unlocks which version you have, and paid for.

You can use a program called "ABR" (Activation, Backup, and Restore) It'll save the current activation info, and let you reinsert it into a fresh installation of Windows.

Then you can add programs, drivers, and files you feel you need, without all of the extra company crap. Might even free up some hard drive space.

Boy, there's a word I've been running into lately. Thankfully, the reviewer who rated the HP netbook I'm interested in explained that term - and an accurate description, too.

Sony Vaios actually come with some decent "bloatware" lol.
