Still cheaper than getting the whole set vintage. Gunna try to hunt them down when I get paid next.
They call me “Tanker Chungus”!

Kind of hard to rebuy when I paid £5 for the cassette packs mid nineties and bought an original boxed soundwave for £15 off a friend who paid £21. Think I'm just going for the dinosaur tapes as I'm not sure if I ever got a replacement buzzsaw during the Tf collection/encores.

I'm good with my "fat chested" reissue Soundwave and I already have the main casettes. So no need for me to double-dip.
However, anyone who are a Soundwave fan and don't own the G1 molds would be MAD to pass these up.
Yes, even at those prices.

Funny thing for me is, the only cassette I own is Ratbat, so I need to get ALL of them. But I have MP Soundwave as well as Siege Soundwave. Would G1 Soundwave have a place in my collection?

I believe so. They were charging $50 a pop originally I believe, but I’ve seen him down to $30 in the Walmarts around Fort Bliss, which I think is much more reasonable.

You guys are right, I should get one. I never transform the MP and Siege doesn't have a deck mode, so I gues I can keep G1 as a player.-Kanrabat- wrote:william-james88 wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote:Funny thing for me is, the only cassette I own is Ratbat, so I need to get ALL of them. I say so too. Soundwave is bigger (voyager) and DO come with his original Buzzsaw. Optimus is deluxe sized and have been neutered from his iconic trailer, making him not worth it at all.
Not having my "Universe" Soundwave reissue, I wouldn't mind paying full price for Soundwave and both cassette packs. I don't give a flying damn what that reissue's price was 10 freaking years ago. What matter is what are the prices RIGHT NOW. And right now, buying the full sets at full price from Walmart will come cheaper than getting everything separately from ebay. Reissues or originals.
Seriously, I would never, ever wait for a sale for these. I could even double dip, if it weren't for a certain planet-muncher coming up.

The only thing I NEED is the Frenzy/Laser Beak 2-pack. My Brother made off with the casettes for his collection, and I acquired 2nd hand Rumble and Ravage somewhere down the line.
But, there is a part of me that might consider Soundwave himself because my OG suffers from the age old leaning-forward-like-he's-gonna-puke syndrome.
That old toy has been very loved for many years, and a lot of his joints are worn out.

See, I need the other one. I was gifted lazerbeak with Soundwave once and I will be getting Frenzy with those dino casettes. So all I am missing is rumble and ravage.

Totally not trying to be some grumpy old G1'er just curious how many of you have a childhood attachment to Soundwave vs. a more modern appreciation for an older toy done well?
See I always fall back on my childhood filled with G1 on up so I always get that fanbuzz that's part of my DNA talking about re-releases and stuff like this, but I'm always curious about younger fan perspectives on the older G1 stuff.

I grew up with G1 toys but I'm non-plussed about them now, the oldest toys I own now are Beast Wars.

I love seeing these re-releases but I never buy them. I just hope they bring some of that G1 joy to the newer fans or younger fans. It'll never be the same granted but man, at least they get a shot at a Soundwave. Or several shots at a Soundwave.
It's like how you can get a poster of the Mona Lisa or Starry Night. Nah it's not the same, but it's nice to have up or out just to appreciate or add some cheap class to your walls.
Plus, bring a date home, they see Soundwave out and displayed? Dude, lock it down.

As someone who never owned G1 toys aside from some micromasters (I was born in 88), having a chance to own these toys that started it all is pretty cool for me. I do appreciate the toy aspect and quality. I find these very smart and well made toys, especially with the springs and diecast involved with some of them. I also find it cool how the alt mode is the favoured mode of the two, which is not often the case.

Just got home from the park place Walmart in Tucson AZ. Picked up my mint soundwave reissue for $50. Couldn't bring myself to by the additional 2 packs of cassettes at $20 each, thinking about it, but might wait for them to clearance out eventually. There were 3 soundwave's left in stock. 1 more box in excellent condition, the other 2 had a few creases.

First, welcome!
And second, unless you have money trouble, DO NOT wait for the cassettes to go on clearance. Even at 20$, those are TWO packs and even at that price, they will be scalped to hell and back for double the price on Ebay. Beside, if you want a single complete vintage cassette, you would have to pay at least 30$ if not more.

Bought a Swerve reissue for 4 bucks the other day. Only reissue either of the two Walmarts I went to that day had (but there were about a half dozen at the location I bought it at). The day prior, went to another location, and all they had was a still very much $50 Optimus... And the packaging was not in great shape either.
Oh well, never had a Swerve before, just a Gears (which I still have). Weird how it had a rubsign, but the Bumblebee I got a few weeks prior did not.
