Prime's slow transformation

Postby YeekJat » Thu Oct 25, 2007 5:25 pm

We only see prime transform 3 times in the movie, and 2 out of those 3, it took him forever to transform. What I don't get is why don't decepticons just attack him in the middle of transformation, when he's not expecting it. Any Thoughts?

He Transforms slower because it looks cooler. When you're a bad arse you can do that and still lop a Decepticons head off in three seconds!

You know what would be fun/cool for any sequel?

A large Autobot with a complex transformation like Prime's roll ing up to a token Decepticon and starting to transform. The Decepticon would pick up a strong object like a street lantern and jam it right into the exposed inner parts of the vehicle, jamming the Autobot's movements, locking him in mid-transformation or even worse, breaking cogs and other delicate machinery leaving the Autobot in a crippled half/half mode.

It would elevate any Decepticon to instant badass status. Yes, even Shortround.

I always took the longer transformations as just a more dramatic shot. Blackout's first transformation was quite a bit longer than towards the end of the movie. In a sceens with a lot of action, the transformations seem a little less in depth. It would be kind of funny to see a few suckerpunches though.

No, Prime's transformation isn't slow, but his transformation is slowed down on the screen. Bay said so himself. Prime's transformations are slowed down so that "the audience can get a better appreciation for the transformation process". Basically there are so many pieces moving on the screen (10,108 moving pieces in Optimus Prime alone) and if they didn't slow down his transformation on screen then people would not be able to see much of the transformation process.

And really, isn't that one of the reasons we like the movie, because it sure has nothing to do with the plot

This is totally stupid. A crappy, weak, man-made street lamp pole would just get crushed and eaten up like a piece of rubber amongst a tough alien robots mechanical parts like the TF's have. Its not like just throwing a spanner into the works, because unless said spanner is made out of the same materials the tf's are it would just bend up and get eaten. Besides, im sure they have alternative transformation routes. They always have 3 or 4 different ways of transforming. If one doesnt work, use another.

You people really need to remember that these guys are meant to be ALIENS and thus made out of strong, super advanced materials that no human has ever even dreamt of inventing.

Those streetlights were sure as hell powerful in the game. Many times much more effective than punching or even shooting ()

I know that's just the game. Even so, it wouldn't be too good to have a crumbled shattered street light in your inner workings. They still occupy space whether they're bent out of shape or not.

Where'd you get the notion TFs can transform in different ways? That kind of defeats the realism the movie went for. Slight mass shifting or not, all parts have a specific place in robot and alt mode. They can't magically morph into one shape or the other, all parts move through physical means. Destroying, blocking or adjusting those means will affect the transformation.

lol, owned. :P

But seriously...you gonna tell me that you never noticed how every transformer ever created from G1 onwards transforms differently every now and then?

Plus it just makes simple sense to have a back-up transformation route in case one gets damaged. Like a back-up generator for your houses electric.

Hmmm, interesting. Prime seemed the same, just different angles.

Primes is supposed to look heroic, Ironhides is supposed to look skilled, and Blackout's gives the humans time to think what the f*** is going on. See for yourself

Thats what i assumed aswell

E.g. SS being shot twice in the back by f-22 raptor missiles and still staying in one piece barely scratched.

I like slow transformations. This is why i like transformers, so i can see this stuff nd absorb it.

I'm all for fast transformations too, but i want to be able to appreciate the stuff sometiems.

man, ironhide looks awesome wtih that battle mask. I don't recall seeing him ever use it in the flick though. Just bumblebee, jazz and prime
