Protoform/Entry Mode/Vok Starscream Question

So, I finally got this figure, and I notice that is flame piece has a notch in the side. I can't find any use for that notch in the the figure, the instructions, or this site's gallery. Does it serve any purpose at all?

The notch is for the Entry Mode. It's supposed to latch on the back panel for more stability. If you're talking about the bend it has, call it "artistic creativity".

Oh... I get it now, thanks. It's my own fault for leaving the weapon out when I put him in entry mode.
