Uh, okay, it might not be a perfect resemblance to the G1 animation model. But who cares. Its close enough that I am thankful to even be getting one.

Why are you making such a big deal about this? Yes, it's not as fat as the G1 toy/animation model, that's been commented on before by other members. There are those who won't buy it because of it too. If you're PO'd about a moden take on a character's design, whether it be from HasTak or a 3rd Party, then man do you have some strict guidelines over what is "good"
For the sake of my entertainment, let's break dows each aspect of the original toy and compare it to iGear's take on things.
Shark Mode
G1: Much rounder and flatter along the top, also no antenna. Colours fairly accurate to on-screen characters
iGear: Skinnier and rounded body, eyes are a different colour but placement is more or less the same to the G1, The pink is replaced with purple.
Robot Mode
Similarities:
--It's difficult to get a complete picture, but the heads appear to have the same elements - red eyes, pronounced nose, and a helmet motif, complete with crest on the top.
--Shark legs become robots arms
--Tail become mace
--Rows of shark teeth are featured predominantly along neck-line
--Shark Arms fold back at shoulders
Un-Similarities:
--Robot mode legs. In the G1 fig, the slide out of its ass, not interfering with the obese-robot look. In iGear's it appears the legs are formed from the lower body, thus subtracting from trhe obesity feel
--Mace design
--Articulation. I don't own a G1 Gnaw, but looking at Seibertron's wonderful gallery, I can cout only 3 - the head and one on each shoulder. I count at least 11 on iGear's, 12 if the waist turns.
--Head design. G1's head is flattish and wide, in keeping in the theme of the figure. In iGear's, they too are keeping with their theme; kind of narrow but rounder.
Looking closely, I can see why you think there are some similarities between this and Animated Grimlock, but at the same time, there's not a vide variety of options when it comes to turning a bipedal creature into a robot.
oh yeah, I'm getting 3 of them.

Re: Prototype images of iGear's TF-005 Shark Sentry
He looks about as similar as any of the other Neo G1 guys, official or not. A lot less seperates this from it's G1 roots than City Commander to Ultra Magnus, Protector to Rodimus Prime, Gen Kup to G1 Kup, Universe Powerglide to G1 Powerglide and, Hell, Rotf Bludgeon (concieved to fit in with the classics line, mind) to G1 Bludgeon.
Sure he's not as spot on as Delicate Warrior, Impossible Toy's Quint line, and a handful of other toys that capture the animation model look, but that's obviously not what they were going for. Why complain that an apple's not an orange?

I hope they still do a variant robot head with an eyepatch like they showed with their original protos.

You know what pisses me off even more than this?
That Hasbro stole G1 Grimlock's design to make Animated Grimlock. They're basically the same toy, just with slightly different aesthetics.
Just get over the fact that the iGear SHarkticons look like more modern Sharkticons, 90% of their transformation and design are the exact same as the opriginal toon and toy Sharkticons.
What's next, you're going to complain about MP 10 Optimus Prime for not looking exactly like the G1 toon modle or toy?

If you're part of the news team you're not meant to be bias are you not?
Look what I am saying is that they can make the alt mode look awesome why can't they make the robot mode look just as good, the robot mode looks like its transformers animated where the alt mode look like it would fit into the CHUG universe. If they re went back to the drawing board I am sure that they could make the robot mode look more like what the original bot did or make the bot mode look more classic like orientated and less animated.
Why does it upset me because I'm working my arse off trying to articulate a G1 sharkticon and these well I can't call them what I think they are have gone and ripped off peoples designs. It is just as bad as some pro customizers when they rip on a design or ask for help from some one and don't even credit the person, I just don't like it how Igear makes rubbish claims it to be there idea and every one jumps at it. Once again I will state and you can quote me on this, Alt mode is good robot mode is rubbish simple as that. I am not surprised Hasbro has not shut Igear down considering that they blantedly rip off on their toys which are already out there, didn't Hasbro crack down on Knock Off toys on eBay or something? If they have why not on Igear? Why not crack down on Igear and get rid of their Knock off items.

Let me get something right here.
iGear bad because they're "ripping" off Hasbro's character.
You good because you're taking a G1 figure and articulating it.

Erm, no? I can still have my own opinion, thoughts and decide what I do and don't like.
Besides, if you knew me better, you would know that I'm biased against IGear for KOing other people's work and not just Hasbro and Takara, the MP Optimus head and hands are Kos of a garage kit by a Japanese kitbasher for instance.

The bot mode is good, it looks better than the animation model and superior to the crappy G1 toy.

Yes iGear has ripped off people's designs and KOed stuff, but they're moving away from that and are fococing on originaly designed products again. We even had the guy who does the Mini Warriors come to our site and post the designs since "they end up on here anyway".
And why should anyone care if you're hard at work trying to articulate the G1 toy?
So what are you saying here, you're angry at iGear because they supposedly stole your unoriginal idea of articulating a G1 toy? Seriously?
You do know that IGear announced this 4 years ago and even scrapped the original design since it was too close to the original toy and people (me included) complained about the crappy bot-mode and itasecally being a KO?
This time round they actually redesigned it and made a good-looking bot mode that features elements from the toon, the original toy plus more modern sensibilities and you complain about it and try to justify it by claiming they stole the design for this toy, seriously?

I'm guilty more then anything, I never said I created the idea at all dead metal, but seriously they made one 4 years ago? Can you link me please, I would like to see this one you all called a KO and compare it to this new piece of rubbish.

It was never released. The iGear one is the smaller one shown next to a G1 original. This is the original news story.

thanks, yeah it is an improvement, but if the combined their knowledge of the two bots together and created a more articulated version of GNAW well hell I would even toss my kitbash aside and buy it! How ever they haven't, I won't and it won't happen so I won't be buying this bot as robot mode it looks like crapola!

Robot mode looks awesome to me. I don't see why you're so vehemently against it, but if it drives you to finish your custom, that's good or you. I mean, you've explained it, but I still just don't see the problem. I don't see how it's any worse because of it's update than any of the other updated figures.
Oh, well, you can't please everyone.
Seeing those old versions of this makes me glad iGear kept at this! This is WAY better! I guess these are the enemies of their mini warrior line.
