Ptitvite's "Classics" Swoop **** UPDATE**** DINO P

Postby ptitvite » Sun Sep 02, 2007 6:22 pm

Hi!

Again, in scale with my other Dinobots...based on Classics Grimlock.
I consider him finished but I may add some red paint apps.
The clearcote is still sticky so I don't have the dino mode yet but I just could'nt wait any longer...
I took E Towline's head, skinned off the sides and mod it to get a nice Swoop G1 accurate head.
Hands are removable and are from Alternators Sideswipe.
Missle launchers are from cl ss and I cut the missles short.
Shoulder pads were removed. Crotch was modified
The dino claws are able to go up all the way, just needed to dremel them.
Edit: I also made a sword out of Cyb Brimstone's cyb key gimmick wings
Hope you enjoy him.

it's so hard to believe that such an amazing custom could've started out as such a crappy figure

lol, they are not fully extended but still can bend the right way.
I have a habit of cheating and making things simple but effective.
It makes him a bit shorter but I prefer him that way and keeps him in scale with my other dinobots.
They need to be fully extended to transform him in dino mode.
I transformered him this morning and noticed some imperfections so he's
back in pieces. I also made another minor mod... and new paint apps.
I'm gonna paint some gold in the feet area so that he has some family resemblance to his fellow comrades. I'll add some red too to his lower legs.
Anyways...He'll be finished someday.. lol

Wow,this must be my favourite classics dinobot bash.
Are you gonna make a second grimlock for him to combine with?

Thanks :D
I'll update a Grimlock eventually. My dear Rhinox, the combining feature is total crap. Mega Dinobot looks like @hit, unstable and useless. It's something I did'nt know until I got the set. So trust me, if my dinos combine, the 5 of them will be involved.

Yes,i heard about the slaginess of the combined mode, still, even if just to take some pics,it's fun to have a combined mode,i heard the clip that holds 'm is too weak? do you have pics of the clips/pegs? perhaps some minor mod can be made to improve it.

It is not the problems to assemble them that bugs me, its the overall look.
Like I said, he looks like @hit.

AWESOME!!!One question thou, are his wing "tips" removable? I ask cause I think he'd get better sword(s) instead of giving him some random blade, have his wing ends come off and be able to held, their already pretty serrated.. I have to dig mine out and see how that would work..

Wow, that Swoop looks awesome, especially considering the figure he was made from! I especially like how he's bulkier now because he better matches his brothers.

Thanks and yes they are but I did'nt bother to do any mods on them as I took Cyb Brimstones cyb key wings to make the sword

They are easier to fix on this side. The rotating peg makes it hard to glue or fix to the wings.
It's just a matter of opinion and not because I did it but I like the way they are in bot mode.
They can be directed directly towards the enemy. It makes him a bit more badass.

Sorry, I just noticed I did'nt answer to this question...
Sideswipe's hands hold with a "block" of hotglue I sculpted around the balljoint of the hand. It's a kind of push and turn system. Once inside, they don't fall. I could ve used putty but there is friction so I prefered hotglue and It does not scratch the inside or damage the paint. Hotglue can also support some tension, bends and does not break.
Thank you
