So what's the deal with the version without the weird space panels? Is it some kind of exclusive? The only thing keeping me from falling head over heels for the new Voyager are those panels, so I'm trying to find out more about the version we've been seeing that lacks them. Does anyone know anything about it's availability?

This is just my recall recalling, but isn't there a version of Voy Optimus w/ a trailer? Perhaps that's the one you're talking about. *shrugs*

Takara version doesn't have the panels.

Doesn't save the mold from being awful though.

Sounds about right...the so called 'Ultimate' Optimus Prime, so ultimate they're not evening bothering to paint the rims silver. But I guess $80 just doesn't go as far as it used to.

There are two main versions of the DotM Voyager Prime mold: Hasbro and TakaraTomy. Here's the rundown:

Hasbro:
- heat/blast shields on vehicle mode
- no trailer
- regular MechTech weapon

TakaraTomy:
- no shields on vehicle mode, looks more like previous versions
- trailer for storing MechTech weapons
- different MechTech weapon, unfolds into a sword.

We've yet to see the TakaraTomy version separate in the US, but who knows?
