From the movie. Simmons scans Sam for "rads".

Probably a certain kind of radiation the NBE's put out.

Are you talking about the Rads mentioned by Sector Seven when they're sweeping the Witwicky house?

A rad is an out-of-date unit of measurement for radiation.

Radiation absorbed dose is expressed in "rads," or more commonly "greys" (Gy)

- 1 rad = 100 ergs/gram, 1 Gy = 100 rads
