But I've had a run in with fedex when they threw a package over my front gate that was clearly covered in stickers saying "Fragile" and "Glass". Low and behold, when I picked up the package, the glass inside was shattered.

My wife's major beef has always been with UPS, both privately and professionally. 8 out of 10 times, when it's fragile, it's broken, more so for home deliveries. And half of the time, the boxes look pretty beat up, let alone the contents. It's gotten to the point that whenever we see a UPS truck we cringe. "What can Brown do for you? Break your stuff"
Sadly they deliver here in the Netherlands, god knows why. I feel sorry for the ones who have to deal with them.
