Thing is, yellowing is but one symptom of plastic aging and really an inevitability. However, there seems to be a difference between ABS ("Body plastic" if you will) yellowing and PA/POM ("Mechnical plastic" like joints and gears) yellowing, but that's for a different thread. As long as the latter's fixed by now...

Can anyone fill me in on what's going on with Target's Studio 86 Starscream and Prowl? The pre-orders sold out in less than an hour initially, so I decided to wait until it hit stores, it looks like the release date came and went and no stores got stock (even though Target.com showed some stores near me had some inventory). After patiently checking the listings over the past couple of weeks, I decided to check ebay but oddly see no Starscream from the U.S. ... they're mostly from Asia and China, which says to me Target never got their stock. Is that the consensus currently?

Long story short; Starscream is showing up in stores with the Insecticons, barely. Most POs have been delayed until Aug 11th, but some are shipping now. Hasbro Pulse shipped Prowl a month ago and are shipping Starscream. Apparently, Pulse only gets 3% of store exclusive stock. They'll only get more IF Target orders a second run of something.

So am I one of the lucky ones to get the Insecticons then? I got them right away so I didn't think it'd be tough to get Starscream and Prowl.
It's weird though ... there are US sellers on ebay with the Insecticons, but not Starscream, which says to me that Starscream didn't show up.

Oddly I saw the pre-order for the Insecticons as sold out, but when I was last in Ohio I saw the Target had like 3-4 of them in stock. So I snagged one because I wanted the set and missed the period for it.
Unfortunately it's not just happening with Transformers, but other lines have been getting the back hand too. Several Jurassic World "Beyond the Gates" releases this year have been botched or had similar problems of selling out but also being available in store in plentiful numbers. Some of them not even dropping at the 8am Central time slot they said it would be available for pre-order and then when they shadow drop, they sell out quickly. I really do not know who is making these decisions at Target, but they really need to get the axe. Seems like retailers have definitely not been friendly to collectors lately.

I said "screw it" and ordered Prowl through cmdstore. I'm paying more on shipping since it's coming from Canada, but at least they have him. Still... Starscream should never have been an exclusive.
I don't know if we're actually going to see some of these in store. But I am thinking Hasbro dropped the ball big time. People are yelling at Target, but given Hasbro's current direction, this seems more their flub.
I know it may be a few more bucks, but do consider our neighbors to the north as an option.

While we can blame Hasbro for making Starscream an exclusive, the distribution issues and cancelled pre-orders are definitely on Target. They cancelled pre-orders within hours of having people approve a new date yesterday. Yet they also put some out in stores that got scooped up by scalpers the first and only day they were available. Where and when the remaining Target stock will show up is anyone's guess.

Same, I picked him up a while ago and I can side step this part of it. Though I do empathize greatly with the annoyance and anger in this. Target isn't just doing this with Transformers, but also other properties as well in terms of distribution it seems. So I don't think it is entirely Hasbro's fault considering Target has done with with Mattel products as well.
