Okay, Lugnut is awesome! Much better than the awful Lockdown-clone.

Strafe and lugnut are now on my must get list. Strafe is sort of a shock to me because I thought it would have been mindwipe in sunspot's colors, still even though he's not it still looks awesome. As for lugnut, they took the animated version and totally realisticificated it. both look just amazing.

Has anyone seen the pictures of the purple Lugnut? What's the difference? Is that the Takara version?

It is the Takara version and the colours are, overall, better IMO, but they did manage to make some bits the wrong colour anyways. Check out the front page, there are links.

Cool. Thanks for the info.
It's weird, but I think I like the green better on vehicle mode and the purple better for robot mode.

If I remember it right, that Universe Inferno wasn't modeled after a fire truck which had a ladder, though. So adding a ladder would make the vehicle mode less realistic.

Great another TFA figure making it's way over to a different line! Hasbro please stop this, you did this with Lockdown and some others and now with Lugnut!! Hasbro i don't understand you sometime, or even at all, this is the last thing we need is mixing lines and such. What a wasted resource Lugnut is. This one is a PASS for me.
And...who the heck died and made you king? No need to piss and spit on Animated fans who would want their characters continued in later lines.

Yeah, I actually think he will look really good going up against Powerglide. Hopefully he's not too much smaller.
Sooooooo......if both of you think Lugnut fits into the classics/Genline, then ROTF Lockdown and Axor will too? cause if both of you say yes, then both of you are off your rockers.

Yes to them too.
Why? Lockdown has done a bunch of stuff to modify himself, hence his horrific appearance. Axer was originally an Action Master and had to go through similar modification to regain his transformation.
If we're gonna get real picky about looks, then G1 Season 3 toys have no business being with the first two seasons of Transformers.

I completely agree, What's so bad about adding new Characters to an old Franchise like G1. They added Drift so why not Lugnutz.
P.S. Counterpunch your sig is going to haunt my mind for months now.

I'd also like to add that Lockdown is a major player in the new Drift mini-series, so by IDW standards, he is officially retconned into Classicverse. Hooray! But if you had to ask, I'm not completely sold on Shane McCarthy's writing, even though I like Drift in concept.
And CP, I'm not completely with you on the fact that G1 Season 3 toys have no business being with the first two seasons of Transformers. Scramble City combiners were originally intended as a sub-genre of the Diaclone line. If anything, they act like a missing link between Diaclone and 2010/Master lines.

Except the first 4 combiners appeared in Season 2. Season 3 is when the futuristic vehicles became common place, quite a change.

Heh, realistificated.
Anyways, so my post isn't totally off-topic... I'm definitely getting the Hasbro version. It won't look right next to Animated Lugnut, but at least it won't be completely fugly like the United version.

I'm going to offer you two answers. You can pick the one you like most.
A) When I described the combiners as a missing link, I was thinking more along the lines of die-cast materials, not alt-modes. A good chunk of Season 1&2 toys were made almost entirely of die-cast parts. Then combiners came along, an extension of the Diaclone toys, but these guys used more plastic. Hence the missing link between Season 2 toys using Die-cast and newer Season 3 toys using plastic. I never really considered Season 3 characters to be that futuristic, except maybe Kup and Rodimus.
B) I'm right! Fingers in my ears! La-la-la-la-la...

IIRC, Universe Inferno's water cannon thingy was done in homage to G2 Inferno's lame water-shooter accessory... he still had a ladder too, but that's beside the point.

I don't know, I thought most of those 86 movie bots were. Blurr, Cyclonus, Scourge, Springer, Wheelie - pretty sure these guys at least are meant to be futuristic vehicles.
Though I like you answer 'B', it has a certain irrefutable logic

So far it's anything non-movie. Movie style toys have the Autobot Alliance line for that.

Considering "Generations" also has the WFC toys in it, which are clearly not Classics but clearly G1 based, and Classics had Dinobot and Hotshot in it, I'd say there is solid precedence for these lines to allow for re-imaginings of any character they want.
