The world has lost someone who was truly a piece of history. Millvina Dean, the last living survivor of the infamous RMS Titanic disaster, died Sunday at the age of 97 in Southampton, England. Coincidentally, she died 98 years to the day Titanic was launched into the water in Belfast, Ireland, on May 31, 1911.

A Moment of Silence please, for the 1,517 men, women, and children who went down with the Titanic on April 15, 1912.

Wow...it was so long ago. Almost 100 years. I figured there might be more survivors still around. Oh well. This is the same kind of thing like WWII veterans. Very rare anymore.

Heh. Well, personally, I try to give respect when I can to people who've had a long life, because they've seen and been through quite a bit. Stuff most of us probnably won't go through, becacuse most of us won't live to be 100. That's why I brought up WW2 vets. It was probably a different experience than anything else, even other wars, to go through, and I know most soldiers don't like to talk about it, I try to know as many veterans especially of WW2 and Korea, because I think their stories and experiences should live on in life not just on pages of text books. Plus I am a huge 20th century history buff, at least when it comes to war and the military, so i try to learn as much as I can.
