MP for me. I have ponder on which to get for a while as well, with a similar scenario of only want to afford one of the two. I happen to not own any versions of Classic Rodimus, so that alone even out the price differences. And while the FP kit looks great, and experience from their City Commander Magnus kit confirmed their quality, its still a very nice kit snapped on a $10-20 engineered toy. The joints and quality on the base figure won't have the same fit & sturdiness of a MP figure, which have better designed ratchets and bigger joints for stability. So your Classic Rodimus may not hold up too well with all the FP parts added on top. It was not designed to sustain such add-ons. Just like my City Commander figure. It held up ok (with some joints needed tightening). But its not the same as holding up a MP Prime, Grimlock, or even a MP Meg.

With them being similar in price, and seeing what they have to offer, I think MP is a better purchase.

Now this, this is a fair point. I do actually worry a great deal about this issue.

Rodimus is notorious for having cracked hinges where the chest connects, and the cups for his ball in socket shoulder joints.

My only suggestion would be to take extreme care with the figure and not slam it around like a gorilla.

Problem is, sometimes you can be as gentle as a feather and he'll still crack like an egg.

If you're in the US, I'd get the FP version first and wait to see what the Hasbro release will be.

For me it's FP, but only because I can squeeze $100 USD into my budget, not $200. I'll try to grab one later(probably at Botcon).

I'm getting both, but if it could only be one, it would have to be MP. As awesome as FP is, the MP line is still tops, IMO. And the US release is only going to be Hot Rod, not Rodimus Prime...

But those that say if you want to do one now, one later, doing the FP early might be the safer choice based on availability...or they could end up doing like City Commander and doing a second run that's actually a little better.

FP are doing great things but it's MP all the way on this one. Masterpiece Rodimus is an incredible looking figure. :BOT:

I'm getting the FP version first. I already have the Classics Rodimus, and the price for Protector is cheaper (don't forget about Sidearm too). Plus the fact of the the run of Protector will be shorter than MP Rodimus (maybe they will do a clear version for the Sons of Cybertron Rodimus too). I do love the MP version, but my pocketbook doesn't like the price, yet I hope to get one if I get the money saved up. True- there will be a Hasbro version- but I was told this one will not come with the trailer. Someone should ha ve a sit down with Hasbro about that..........
