is it just me or does he look more like Wildrider than Dead End

He does, but the head is definitely Dead End: it's based on his G1 cartoon head and even carries the deco of the hood of the original toy on top of his head.
For those wondering: the "Wildrider" trademark is unavailable to Hasbro, but Takara circumvented the issue by adding "Stuntron" (Japanese name for Stunticon) for the Gentei figure, hence "Stuntron Wildrider"

I actually like Sideways more, after I painted his red midsection that is. Dead End's head clashes with the look of the body too much.
