ROTF Fallen

Has anyone seen the Voyager class ROTF Fallen? I saw him at Wal Mart last weekend and my first thought was "He looks like he's takeing a crap."

Why in the hell did Hasbro decide to package him in robot mode? Other Voyager class figures are packaged in vehicle mode and I'm not quite sure how big his vehicle mode is but it looks like it'd take up less space from the pictures.

If you haven't seen him yet, I looked on Hasbro's web site and they even have a picture of the Fallen taking a crap inside of his packaging.

Image

Now the picture doesn't look quite as bad as seeing it in person because the box art is blocking you from fulling seeing how his legs are positioned. He's squatting down in his box with his legs spred open. He looks like he's takeing a crap in there.

Now I didn't post this in the toy review thread because this is not a toy review. I didn't even buy him, if anything this is a "how the toy is packaged" review.

I think losing your cool over the way something is packaged is bad for your psyche. Regardless, there's many possibilites as to why Hasbro decided to put the Fallen in Robot Mode packaging. Maybe they thought kids wouldn't recognize the Fallen in Robot mode. Maybe they wanted to make the figure look as big as possible. Whatever, it's just packaging. He shouldn't even have an alternate mode to begin with.

I'm leaning towards the recognition factor for the reason for the packaging setup. At a glance, the alt mode may not be seen as The Fallen to the average Transformer buyer who isn't involved heavily in the collector community and is in the know.

I don't own the fig (nor do I want to), but looking at the alt mode it seems very thick. Perhaps Hasbro decided that they couldn't fit it in the package with adequate toy protection on the front and back of the box?

Although the recognition factor does sound as logical. He didn't have an altmode in the film.

My vote is the recognition thing. They only gave him an alt mode cos he's part of the TF line.

As for recognition issues, he should've also been given his staff from the movie. :-?

Probably because his alt mode is pointless and unrecognizable. Plus, all the voyagers are packed in the same sized package for display and shipping purposes, and this probably just fit better. In the end though, unless you never open your figures, does it really matter?

Yeah, that would have been nice. If the figure had a staff, it could have been used as a "main cannon" in alt mode.

Or if they had added face-pop-off effect like those old Aliens toys, would've been great. Kinda like the Final Battle Jazz from 2007 movie.
