RUMOR: Transformers Animated toy line… cancelled?

Animated series only getting third season...
...and now the freaking figures are canceled.
Well this is just ****.
The thing that kept me a fan through the awful first movie is going away.
Now that there's these AWFUL movie figures knocking off animated, it's bye bye Transformers.
Looks like I'm back to not even LOOKING at that section of the toy aisle again.
On a good note, Lego has kicked the awesome up into overdrive this year, with literally DOZENS of sets i want badly.
Now, I'll have money to do that.

well now i have, to buy the movie line- funny how that works- --THATS because there is nothing new to get--
Believe it or not, you do have the option of not buying any of the movie figures, should you feel they blow.
There will be better Transformers in the future some time.
Save your money.
Don't buy merely what's been placed before your eyes.

As Walmart usually makes up 50 percent of Hasbro's sales... well, you can imagine the sort of clout that Walmart has on such retailers.
Don't like what Walmart is doing? Email and flame THEM.

On a brighter side, I have been starting to collect G1 TFs again and this just puts that money towards that instead. I felt I had to go back to the roots of my childhood this time around.

I thought it was Universe that was supposed to be ending, and Animated was going to be losing its higher price points.
The Hasbro press release says no new Universe figures after Spring.
This has to be a colossal mistake.
... ****.
Pardon my language, but I think the situation warrants it.
I love Animated. It breaks my heart to see it treated like this.
The year of reruns probably hurt a lot, but ddamn it, Hasbro, we're just going into new episodes!
You're making a mistake.
You'd better have the next cartoon planned, and it better be a damn good one. Stop letting the movies bully the franchise.
...God, I wish they'd scheduled RoTF for 2010 instead.

My Opinion: everyone who's blaming Walmart or Hasbro or the Movie need only turn on the TV or look at the front cover of the Wall Street Journal to see the real culprit; our lousy global economy.
Folks, when you produce retail products or depend on retail sales and 50% or more of those sales evaporate in a matter of 4-6 months, you're forced into survival mode and have to make tough decisions that you wouldn't have had to a quarter or two ago. IF this rumor is true, it's because the Animated line isn't profitable any more and Hasbro and its retailers can't afford to have ANY of them hanging on the shelves as pegwarmers at this point.
While a lot of people here hate the decision, unfortunately our sales alone can't save a figure-in-development or product line. They need a lot more than fans to support these products and apparently not enough people/kids-share our sentiment. And those who do may be in households that have had to seriously cut back. These are different times than most of us have ever lived though.
And as for the movie, when Hasbro invests about 250 million on a movie and it's products (in this case, 2 movies), they can't afford to see it fail.
At the end of the day, I'd rather see Hasbro do what it needs to survive rather that preserve a line that so many people thought looked terrible when that first teaser image was released. (I seriously want to dig back about 16 months ago and post some of the comments when this line was announced-we'd all probably have a good laugh.)
If this decision keeps Hasbro going and paves the way for great future figures, so be it.
PS: if we can't see an Animated Wheeljack, hopefully we'll see a Universe Wheeljack in the future.

it is turely a addiction- almost a sickness- very unhealthy- but your right this time-when the movie comes out ((because times are tough) i will for sure have to be alittle picker then normal.
I hate that saying times are tough- it makes things seem tougher- when someone says that-the day when this recession is long in the past- can't come soon enough--------to the future!!!!!!!!!!

(NOTE: her screen name has been blotted out for security purposes)
BigBotMan101 (9:59:17 PM): I have a question for you.
***** (9:59:23 PM): ok
BigBotMan101 (10:00:01 PM): On the pegs and shelves at Target, where the bacodes sit for the prices for each item, what does the gray circle sticker mean?
***** (10:02:58 PM): that they are being researched. they are either getting in new stuff to put there or relocating it for seasonal reset.
***** (10:03:08 PM): why do you ask?
BigBotMan101 (10:04:26 PM): So it doesn't mean that the product is being removed or no longer sold then?
***** (10:05:19 PM): if that was the case it would go on clearance first, then the stickers.
***** (10:05:37 PM): why
BigBotMan101 (10:06:32 PM): We were told online that Animated had been canceled as a toyline along with the show and that retailers were not going to be carrying them anymore and that the gray stickers meant that at Target, but then another person said that the line's being delayed, not canceled.
***** (10:07:16 PM): oh i see
BigBotMan101 (10:07:28 PM): And the Target that had the gray stickers just a few days ago, just restocked with brand new Animated figures this morning or yesterday, full pegs with boxes in the back of the store, apparently. If they were canceling it or not carrying it, I'd imagine Target wouldn't be receiving more shipments.
***** (10:08:14 PM): that would be the case
I know it's a case of "he tell me" (or in this case, she) but she's been with the company for a few years now. She knows what she's talking about.
So I'm not sure we have a great deal to worry about. Especially after the delay instead of cancellation.
She's also told me in the past that Animated sells out like crazy. (I try to get her to get the newest figures for me, because of her discount, but BBTS always beats her to the punch, and they never have 'em in stock at her store when I need 'em.)
So I feel a great deal better.

I heard about that earlier. Look at it in a positive light, they're delayed and moved around, but not canceled.
That's infinitely better news than "Hello, we're Hasbro, and we're here to tell you that Animated has been canceled. Thank you for the copious amounts of money, but you aren't our focus, we're whoring ourselves to the masses, buy in bitches!"

Judging by the last ten years, isn't it about time for a whole new series to begin anyway? I'm still hoping for something closer to a G1 reboot.
I haven't really enjoyed the Animated stuff. I've only bought Blurr and Jazz, simply because there were no Universe versions. I was going to get Arcee, and was hoping for an Omega Supreme, but that's it.
However, I do hope that the show has a proper ending, and they had better release that last toy wave with Arcee. But other than that, I'm ready to move on to something new.
Whether a new series is G1 inspired or all new, as long as they keep the Universe/Classics 2.0 going, then I'm happy.

Well to the extent that I care, if anyone reads that and takes me seriously then they're retarded and it doesn't concern me...
I'm pretty sure if we're "looked upon as crazies" it's because we're mostly grown men who still play with children's toys...only we spend WAY more money on it now...
I can live with that

Grimlock_1978 wrote:GOD one can only hope they end that awful creation!!!! Some moron at Hasbro dropped the ball on the Animated Line... I know, I know people like it but around here where I live even little kids HATE it!!! They think it looks to kidish and rather have Bakugan or the Universe line.. The crap just sits on the shelfs.. Now Universe is a different story.. They should have based a whole TV cartoon series on the remake of G1 and used the Universe/ Classic line. Would have been a lot better! I don't know what kids Hasbro test this stuff on but they sure are the wrong ones..
But seriously, these "kids" you speak of must actually be adults, cuz the kids out my way can't get enough of TF:A. Asides from the typical peg warmers, all of the stores out here can't keep TF:A on the shelves. And the whole basing a new show on G1, you honestly think that'll do any better?
With the way CN handled TF:A, none of this is at all surprising. They don't even air reruns, at least none I've seen. I'm thinking hiatus for ROTF is more likely than canceled, but I wouldn't be surprised.
And to those blaming Bay and ROTF, you all are even funnier than the guy I quoted. It's all Hasbro folks, they are the ones in charge of the Transformers franchise, not a film director

"Consider the knowledge dropped."
From ToplessRobot.com:• "Watching Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is marginally better than sh***ing your pants, but it takes a lot longer." Very well put.

I WISH I could find Arcee, Blurr, and Swindlle. Everywhere i go the new stuff is sold out and when a new wave comes out where i live it sells pretty well. I really do think The movie line is taking priority which is too bad. I enjoyed Animated a lot more.
