What you don't understand is that the topic also covers other situations as well. Lapse of Reason pretends he's free to charge the buyer what he wants to cover Ebay and Paypal fees; Ebay says no. Pretty simple.

You misunderstand the ebay rule.

They mean what upther said. Circumventing fees means inflating the shipping charge to cover the difference in the actual price of the product and the low listing amount. For example, selling a $50 for $5 plus $45 added to shipping is circumventing fees.

Adding $5 handling per transaction to cover expenses is not circumventing fees. I have been on eBay for 9 years and am a powerseller so I know what I'm talking about. You can either try to understand or refuse to, but there is a clear right and wrong answer here. I'm right. When you list an item where shipping is automaticaly calculated, eBay even provides a section for adding a handling fee that is tacked on to the shipping quote. Why would they say you can't do that, then build in a way for you to do it as a seller?

Let me know your ebay ID and I'll gladly add you to my blocked bidders list so you don't accidently take advantage of anything I offer to sell.

The only thing I'm seeing here is a powerseller that got it wrong for 9 years. Handling covers shipping material and handling. Handling does not include extras to cover listing fees and final auction fees.

And if I've never bought anything from you so far, it's probably because there was no real deal to be made.

HA HA HA Burn!

Actually, Lapse is right. Thats what shipping and handling means. The cost of shipping, packaging and any other extraneous costs over and above the price paid for the product. Hence, all ebay aauctions have shipping as a cpl of bucks higher than actual shipping charges.

Also, if you do not like it, rather than try and bash a member of the forum, just do not buy from ebay sellers that you believe to be ripping you off. Problem solved.

Are you talking to me? I didnt say anything. I was just laughing at the comment. I dont buy ebay. If I cant find it at retail, thats the end of the road for me.

First, what you want to do when you call Target, is press 0, then 0 again so it takes you straight to the operator. Then ask to be transfered to the BACKROOM. not Guest services, they are retarded.
Then give the backroom people the numbers. They will tell you in 5 secs if they have it or not.

I know. I work at Target on the weekends. In the backroom.

Members have not been courteous to each other that is the problem.

You are not getting the complaints that I am getting..

And in 40 pages you guys have said enough.

Opinions are clashing still, people are still trying to force their opinions on everyone else.

So the problem is the members and not the topic. I say suspend the members not being courteous and then we can have a fun debate without people getting upset.

Then you would be one of the people that would be suspended due to some complaints I have received against you for this thread.

There are about 6 or 7 members that we keep getting complaints about.

That's because in this instance, the issue is one of pragmatisim for some and one of moral behavior for others.

Those two argumentative points can only collide, never reconcile.

The other problem is that there is no discussion leader who is willing to play 3rd party neutral to ensure that the discourse continues.

Thus, massive failure.

The moral issue is a new one for me, I had previously heard "it is unfair" (the most common complaint) before but never "it's immoral".

Ditto.

I think that for some people immoral=unfair. There were a lot of words used in this thread where I don't think full meetings were understood....

I don't see it as a morality issue either. An issue of etiquette, perhaps. Maybe this thread should be moved to the Philosophers section.

Concerning fees and handling:
The ebayers here have it correct. Handling includes but is not limited to the cost for gas to go to the post office, for my time in packing, for my time in waiting in line, for answering bidder emails, final value fees, etc. They are all costs of "handling" a sale. Note, this is not handling as in "manipulating with you hands", but handling as in "managing". Ebay is only concerned with whether or not they make money and since they own Paypal, that includes that service as well. For example, If I list a figure for $9.99, Paypal will charge me $.70 plus a percentage of the money I receive (S&H included). Ebay will charge me $.25 for the listing fee and a percentage of the final value. I cannot tell someone that I will charge them XX% as a handling fee to cover these costs, but I can sure add a flxed amount to what I expect the shipping cost to be. I would probably charge up to $4 extra to cover these costs and I would not be breaking any terms of service. This is all fair according to ebay & paypal. I had even called and spoke with a representative at both ebay and paypal concerning this because of a previous listing that I was concerned might seem unreasonable in S&H value. Ebay doesn't care who pays for the fee as long as it is paid. Now if you see something listed for dirt cheap like a penny, with a shipping cost that is well over a reasonable S&H cost. You CAN report it. Ebay looks at these on a case by case basis. I reported a seller for listing a game console for a penny with a $350 shipping & handling charge. It was shut down by the next day.
If you don't like this valid practice, you should probably steer clear of ebay.

Im in the same boat with you. There will always be a person that takes your opinion or thoughts the wrong way- esp since people love to put false emotions or a bias on anything they read. I dont say that I know people that have 50 of a particular figure in their garage just to piss people off- but I am posting it b/c it is something I have actually seen. I have enjoyed seeing people post their thoughts because it helps gain perspective, but that still doesnt change my own personal opinion although it may skew it a bit. I do not agree with members saying- Im right- you are wrong- or you are immoral- its all a matter of personal choice...nothing more.

Im sure we've all said things that have pissed each other off in this thread or others. But I don't hate anyone for them. Some of the people I've argued with in this thread, Ive talked to in other threads, so I dont think most people are taking it personal. Though not everyone here is mature, and not every adult here is mature either.

Instead of all this circling debate you should all look at the toys that you love for inspiration. They hold all the moral answers.
Decepticons vs. Autobots

Decepticons (collectors) seem to always be attacking the Autobots (scalpers), acting out of a selfish sense of greed and power. They want control (msrp, clearance items) but lack the skills to maintain the power and usually lose it pretty fast. They suffer in fighting because they are all looking out for themselves first and foremost.

The Autobots are bringing the figures to the open market. They destroy the evilness that is american retail, after all, hasbro will not even ship internationally. What they do makes the world fair and even for all sentinal beings to obtain these awesome toys... not just the decepticons in middle america who want to hold them prisoner for the rest of their days.
