Later tonight (early tomorrow morning), Seibertron.com will be down for at least several hours. Our hosting company is moving our dedicated server to a different part of their data center. The move is scheduled to happen around 1:00am CST. Our server company will shut the server down around that time, remove and check our server. Once it has been tested and reinstalled in the new location, our server will be checked again, booted and then re-connected to the Internet.

We have spent the past few days backing up as much of the site as we can before this move just in case something goes amiss. Our latest database backup is from this morning so if something goes bad with the server during the move, the worst case scenario is that we'll lose a day's worth of data. I have two machines currently running backups on the server. The most important parts have been backed up, they're just currently duplicating backups for our massive galleries (which as you can imagine take up a huge amount of disk space). Our machines have been backing up files for the past 2.5 days as we attempt to get all of the files in one place on a new 4TB backup drive that we are storing offsite.

We are not anticipating any major problems from this move, other than some scheduled down time during this move. Fingers crossed that all goes well tonight and we'll hopefully see all of you here tomorrow morning.

And it looks liek we are back up! Sorry for the little longer delay than expected. I stayed up until about 2:30am thinking they might have a fast turn around, then I set an alarm to wake me up at 4:30am, 5:30am, and then I gave up. Looks like the server came on around 6:45am. I repaired a few database tables that went corrupt during the move ... all looks good now. Enjoy! Let me know if you encounter any problems.

Thank you good sir! From someone who in the past has done this sort of overnight project, it is always a pleasure when things function at the start of the next business day. Do you know if this impacts thread notifications in the forums?
