I think it's every 100 posts. Don't go about spamming to get the next rank or you will be banned.

its every 100 posts gets a rank, untill 1000. then every 1000 posts til 10,000. then you gotta hope to become staff to get the rank to ever change after 10k posts

Indeed they are. Before I came on staff, I always kept an eye on my Rank, it was cool seeing what it would change to each time. Now, I don't know what my Rank would be if it didn't say "News Crew".

So what are the ranks? I remember a post long ago that listed each rank and the associated post-count, but I can't find it now. And why isn't this information in the FAQ?

Back in the day there was an official list you could find somewhere.

And when you hit 1,000 posts (I think it was), Ryan doled you out a custom avatar.

I used to enjoy seeing my titles change and liked it every time I went another 100 up, but ranks are deceptive. There are some members for instance who've been here for a while that maybe only make an average of a post every day or 2 but always have interesting things to contribute while others talk a lot and say little. Then there are those who hang mainly in the "game" threads and post approximately every 6 seconds - as long as they're having fun that's great for them but just because one member has 7,000 posts and one has 650 doesn't make one member "better" than the other.

That's very true. Thankfully, most of the people here at seibs are very open/welcoming and treat everyone the same, regardless of post count.

Something kinda interesting that I have noticed: we at the News Crew seem to get more news notification emails from people who don't post as often, rather than from those with several thousand posts. I don't know how accurate that really is because I haven't seen the actual numbers or anything, but it is something that I have noticed lately from reading news posts contributed by board members.

I guess that's just a sign that everybody here contributes in some way, and I for one am really proud of our community here at Seibertron.com.
