Long version, remember my woes about the whole "in store" versus "online exclusive" crap they were pulling, and the incorrect advertising of both? Well it led me to preorder this Steelbook months in advance. In fact when all that sht hit the fan, Spiderman was the first Steelbook I preordered. Easy peasy right? :roll:

I'd preordered a handful of SB's since then, all going well. On release day, I'd get a charge notice, and eventually a shipping notice. But not with this one. I didn't even notice it was out until a day later while out hunting for other stuffs. So I immediately check my emails, and I got nothing. No emails, and no transaction in my Paypal. I logged into BestBuy so check out the status, and it says "out of stock"........ :BOOM:

Doesn't a preorder... RESERVE the stock? In the mean time (and now about 3 days after release) it comes back in stock online (albeit for less than a day) but my original transaction still says the same things: out of stock, no charges, nothing shipped. So I figure, to hell with waiting and seeing, and I ordered a couple. A day later... the preorder charges and ships... WITH ZERO NOTIFICATIONS. And naturally, all 3 end up on my doorstep yesterday. 8-}

So I'm keeping the pic of the litter, giving one to a friend, and probably xmas'ing the third to my nieces.

G1 & movie Megz?!? HAWT! Can't wait to see 'em.

As much as I enjoy the hunt, the search for TR wave5+ has been a real disappointment. If I went online I could at least have a pleasant surprise delivered on occasion....at least now we can track & trace.

Nebular Starscream looks impressive! And seeing as how ya bought three SMH, I really feel like I must watch it now. The only reason I've waited was....well, as much as I love Spidey, I sure didn't expect as many reboots as we've got since the ones with Tobey Maguire.

Awesome pickup on the Chronicles set Shaj!! You may or may not reneger, but when I got that at 3 years ago that was my first G1 Megatron!!

I hear ya on that. Octane and Blitz are sparsely popping up but I can't seem to nab one. I bought mine a month or so ago online but my Blitz is a QC nightmare and I need a new one to replace him. Not to mention I can't find that last Deluxe, Jetty McBluepants or whatever his name is. So I overcompensated and overspent at BBTS on a bundle with Hotrod and Kup (which I don't need).

I recall SOME chatter about it... not sure who from. Just that this set doesn't come with the stock and silencer, and it was true to the original Japanese G1 toy because he wasn't all chrome'd up like ours?

As much as I enjoy the hunt; all the hours, gas and anxiety spent makes the BBTS premium seem worth it. I think with PotP I'll just preorder the bots I want and call it a day.

If TR wave 5 haven't shown in your area by now you probably ain't going see it except for places like Tj Maxx. 5 never showed here and all the WMs have 6 on pegs. There is still hope for maybe Target or Walgreens. Or maybe they're doing like that did last year and will flood the pegs with em around Xmas. Bah who knows :-?

Too much time and energy spent trying to track things down, like that damn SNES classic (which was totally worth it :lol:

Awesome pic of both Megatrons, Shaj! And lol, G1 Megz in alt mode could definitely get ya in trouble.

I'm still waiting (in vain) for wave5+ to be at b&m, but yer probably right, Cary. But when it comes to shopping at Ross and the like, at least deals can be had! Mine never got deluxes, though, so it may be time for BBTS....

It's actually a nice little tale filled with two days of stalking and obsession.

So I've been doing daily crawls of the internet trying to catch a scent of the trail. And I miss a Gamestop web restock by a couple hours. Then a week later I read several places that GS would be restocking. So I refresh their web page all day. Came in stock for a minute, I could never click add to cart, but I hear the stores will be getting them in a 3 day window.

I hit a few of my local stores that day when they open. They all say tomorrow on the truck. Cool, plan it. Then life gets in the way and I have to go out of town for work. No big deal, I time my travel to be at a local GS when they open to only find out that area received theirs the day before.

Not to mention I stopped at every Walmart and target on the way there. So I was defeated, but I still called every GS that would be on my path home that day to see if they had any. Nada. But I've also been hearing rumors that Target has been randomly receiving shipments in this same time frame. Boom. Check their website and stock inventory. All the ones around me are out but two back home are showing limited stock. So I hit the phone. One won't answer the other does and they have them. Problem is, I'm an hour and a half away.

And now for the dramatic conclusion, I get my wife to pop in and buy one. Yup, she walked into retail, didn't wait in line and purchased a thing like a normal person.

And so ends my three day (month) tale of obsession and desire. Now most people would count that as a win, but I learned along the way that I treat finding TFs with the same vigor. All that time and effort and sometimes gas invested, I could just pay a few bucks more and lock down a preorder and not sweat it. Just saiyan 8-)

SNES Classic = totally worth it! I learned nothing!

Excellent tale, Cary, complete with happy ending. And ya even got the wife to help = even better. My friend was trying to buy online as soon as it was announced but he was SOL (he got the NES Classic tho).

I can tell you love/hate the hunt too. It's better when you actually score something on your list, but it's the thrill and gamble too.
