Ok guys and girls, im have a decision to make and could use your help. A friend of mine has a Generations Metroplex that he bought but doesnt have the room for. He has asked me to trade my G2 Optimus Prime(G1 cab w/ black trailer) along with the trailer from justitoys that goes along with Mp-01 Optimus Prime in exchange for Generations Metroplex. I paid 100 for Optimus and 60 for the Justitoys trailer. He payed 150 plus shipping for Metroplex so money wise its a pretty even deal.
The problem is this, G2 Optimus with the black trailer is quite possible my favorite out of my entire collection, but missing out on Metroplex would SUCK! Optimus is pretty easy to replace and isnt really increasing at all but I fear that Metroplex will increase past my spending limit and then I may never have him.
I JUST DONT KNOW WHAT TO DOOOOO. lol Some one help me.

Metroplex should be readily available in your local stores for roughly $120 in just a few short weeks. I'd say be patient and hold onto your grail.

Yeah... I agree, dumb trade. Metroplex should be in stores soon enough. Or you could order him from an online retailer if you want to be safe.

thanks for your suggestions guys but I did forget to mention 1 small thing, I am out of work for a while do to having severe Lupus and will not be returning anytime soon if at all so I will not have the funds for Metroplex at all and Im afraid when I do he may be out of my price range. As for optimus I dont think his prices are going anywhere. I just checked ebay and in the last month he has went for as low as 33 dollars and as much as 89 and those were both complete. After looking at those prices the trade really seems like a good one to me but would still like some more opinions on it. Thanks again

And as for the trailer, I really dont care for it anymore since I have MP-10 with a trailer. :BANG_HEAD:

I would do it! then stalk Ebay and try to get a good deal on that Optimus.

If your G2 Optimus means that much to you, don't do it.

If you only look at this from a financial perspective, then it's a very fair trade, but that's not the only thing to consider

Regardless of your financial or health situation, I think that's a bad trade. FAIR, yes, in terms of dollar value, but you're trading something that somewhat rare and difficult to acquire for something that's widely available at retail and probably will be for quite some time. I don't think Metroplex is going to sell as well as Hasbro thinks, and I suspect there will be a lot of unsold inventory of them.

I wouldn't make the trade. When you recover and get back to work, you can save up for Metroplex for a later date. I love my G2 Optimus Prime, and if you like it as much as I do (I imagine a lot based on what you said), I wouldn't make the trade at all.

Hell, I don't think I'd trade anything in my collection for anything!

Metroplex is essentially available at retail and your toys are vintage.

id say keep prime.

id be willing to bet at least a few stores end up selling their last metroplexes at a discounted price.

Well guys you have all made valid points but I think Im gonna go against the grain and make the trade. As much as I love my G1 Prime I think other than the nostalgia of him there isnt much to him. Play wise he is kinda boring. After checking out more reviews Ive decided to make the trade. The play factor is just too cool to pass up. I will purchase another G2 prime in the future when my financial situation is better since I believe in the long run it will be cheaper. Thanks guys.

There is your answer. Plus, Gen. Metroplex will come out near you sooner or later. Even is G2 Optimus (as the G1 repaint) is not worth that much for now (you overpaid at 100$) You will lose your favorite and rebuying him will never be the same.

If you dont mind giving him the Justitoy Trailer for MP-01, propose to give him something elseinstead of the G2 Prime. Something valuable but that you wont really care about.

Like I said, if you know where to look, G2 Optimus as a G1 Prime repaint is very easy to obtain and relatively cheap. It's not rare at all. The REAL G2 Optimus, meaning the tanker with that full articulated body of his, is way more expensive and hard to find 100% complete.
So, if your G2 OP is not from your childhood, indeed, go for it.
