I get more pleasure out of my toys when I open them than when I leave them sealed hoping the value increases. But to each his own.

Weapon: Double Beam Guns
Sorry to necropost, but I have a question relating to this...

By coincidence, I also picked up a MOSC Terrorsaur (non-transmetal). While I know the overwhelming consensus in this thread was to open a figure in this case, this one is in European packaging. At least I assume it is-I got it from Hong Kong. I heard that non-US packaging makes it worth a lot more. It's also in really nice shape.

I was intending on opening it; in fact, I only got it mint on card because it was actually cheaper than the opened complete ones on eBay. But now that I have it in hand I'm not so sure.

Does the non-US card make it worth leaving it on card?

If you do open it - do it the clever way and cut the back of the box open, slip the toy out and leave the bubble in tact. That way you can display the backing card looking awesome, bubble included, or even put him back for storage or MOC display.

How do you do that? Cut the card or the bottom of the bubble? Or cut around the base of the bubble? Sounds like a good idea.

Do it from the back of the card. You should have enough room to remove the inner bubble and take the toy out. Put a piece of tape on the top of the card you've cut out and turn it into a flap to reattach it to the backing card.

Use a really sharp modelling knife, so you don't have to "saw" through the cardboard.

Ah. I will do that...if I open it. Still undecided. Thanks a lot for the advice though :)

From my experience.

last year I bought holy grail that's been on my list for 6+years. I was 1990 Takara Brave "Dino-geist. I paid $400+ for this toy MISB.

After some debatting,I decided to open up the toy & transform it.

because I wanted to have the joy of playing with the toy. checking out the poseable joints. seeing how decent the toy engineering was. seeing how big the toy was next to various TF toys on my display shelf.

Brave dino-geist is the more rare & hard to find brave toy of them all.

I generally adopt the rule that: If the packaging can be resealed after opening, I open it. However if the packing cannot be resealed after opening, then I will leave it MOSC/MISB instead.

That IS clever! I just cut around the bubble, but then I also chuck the bubble and keep only the card. I really should get rid of them, honestly.

But yeah, on topic, the answer is always open it! Unless it's something insane like a Lucky Draw or something.

Open it but do it carefully. You can't keep your holy grail locked up in it's box! ;)
