He's widely available, and isn't really anything special.
If you are trying to make money out of these toys, then let me tell you that is never going to work.
Either open it and enjoy it or sell it for retail price. No one is going to pay anything above retail for a Barricade at this point.

Ok, yes it can happens that some toys became rare for one or other reason, that sometimes there's store exclusives that are popular etc.. but these are very specific cases, not even all gifsets/store exclusive get high demand, some just shelfwarm.
So picking a random transformer in the toy aisle? I don't get it.

I think we sometimes get lucky. I picked up the Universe Nemesis Prime (black mammoth) on clearance for like 10 bucks, because it was so cheap and I thought it might go in my Beast Wars display. But, I got lazy and never opened him. Currently he is going for between $89 and $265 on Ebay unopened.
At any rate, I don't want to be the type to speculate on TF value on the secondary market. For every Velocitron box set I might sell for buku bucks, I could end up with 10 Energon Towlines that are going for like $12 right now...
Or worse, I can try to convince eBayers that my authentic Human Alliance Barricade is not really one of the myriad of knockoffs available on Ebay to get top dollar. Instead, I like playing with cool stuff... *pew* *pew* *KABOOM*

True, but that was something of a special case. Target Exclusive release in an awesome color scheme of a toy that had not previously been released in North America. That all adds up to beyond normal appreciation. It has a lot of stuff going for it, even if it is a messy shellformer-y transformation that leaves most of the mammoth unused in Robot mode.
Regular old Deluxe Barricade... that's available everywhere, not so much.
Take 2007 Barricade, still going for around retail price 10 years after the fact. Even mint in box.
Even then, Nemesis can still be had for less than $100 bucks if you look for it.
The point was yes once in a while some retail figure may appreciate to a stupid degree. Most of the time its very much the opposite.
Trying to make money of off a retail figure is futile at best.

Recent movie toys are a horrible investment. Hasbro makes more of them than any other toy. And since others are thinking like you are thinking, that means we will end up with a lot of them still in their boxes for years to come, meaning any money it will be worth later will be equivalent or less than what you bought him for, plus inflation, plus the storage space (which can be seen as opportnuty cost for space you could have used for something else).
And if a toy will be worth more later, it will be worth quite a bit out of the box as well, so you still win.
In the end, if you want to open, him go ahead and if you want to invest, talk to your bank.

If you're just going to leave it sealed, better to just leave it in the store so some kid can buy it and have a good time with it. IMO anyway. Ultimately it's your money, your property, your decision. But you asked.

I agree with this. Reading it would probably give MISB elitists (the kind of people who collect and refuse to open expensive imports with windowless boxes) an aneurysm though XD.
Go ahead and open and enjoy. If you want to sell it later... It's a common Deluxe, so based on the prices I've seen for the Classics/Universe Deluxe Autobots and Seekers you can mark it up to $30 no problem.

* Cyb. Wing Saber left chestplate (argh)

There's no Misb elitists for mass-release retail movie stuff.
It's not a giftset, an exclusive, a vintage or wathever. It's only one of the 2 billion movie toys which will fill all toy shelves for the incoming months.
There's no Misb elitists for that.

Except they're movie stuff. They're produced in higher quantities than classics/universe etc, and less popular for collectors.
Here's the sell price for a 2007 barricade still in box : http://www.ebay.fr/itm/TRANSFORMERS-BAR ... SwmCVY9quB
The same as 2007, probably even less in fact.
