That said, I'm only getting these seeker cars if they turn out really cool. I did pass on Megatron.

I'm of a similar position where the use of characters in new designs appeal to me. A well done homage or re-imagining is something I always enjoy.

On the other hand, I also sometimes feel like Diem where it seems like everything goes back to G1. It would be nice for the franchise to really take a new direction and I'm not talking about something like TFA where we still saw reference to past character concepts like "Optimus Prime" and "Megatron" characters.

By going in a new direction with totally new characters, we could avoid the "trukk not munky" sort of scenario. If that effort fails then established character concepts are untouched and we could return to them.

I do agree that it would actually be nice to see a line with completely new characters. It intrigues me that Japanese G1 had other characters leading the Autobots (Star Saber, etc). We're so used to expecting the next Optimus Prime, I think it would be interesting to see someone new. I'm sure there would be outrage (there's always outrage) but it would be interesting to see for once.

Hehe, yeah, outrage and nerdrage will always be about in fandom. I figure that since people will gripe no matter what is done, it couldn't hurt for the franchise to head in a different direction every once in a while. I like the sense of an ongoing continuity rather than seeing simply different versions of OP and Megatron in every other new series of fiction.

What I like about the Alternity fiction is that it uses a multiverse approach, opening up the opportunity to have odd meetings of characters from different continuities. I also like the over-the-top anime super science.

I love G1 to the core but even I have accepted that things have to change... I mean do you really expect in 25 more years we should still be trying to make Transformers as identical as possible to their G1 versions? Times change and new generations of kids will join the fandom and they will want Transformers based on vehicles of their time cause thats what they can relate to. As much as I hate seeing Soundwave as something other than a tape player, I'm slowly accepting other versions.

Luckily and hopefully, there will always be a place for us G1'ers... As long as there is something for us collectors and G1 purists such as lines like Masterpiece and reissues of G1 figures, I'll be happy

I'm not anti-G1 or anything, I just wish we could sometimes get into that 1987-1992 bracket that often gets ignored. Usually we get the crews of the Ark and the Nemesis, maybe a Dinobot or two, and a couple of guys from the Movie... then it resets before we get the Masters, Aquaspeeders, Pretenders and so on. Admittedly there are a lot of figures named after Micromasters and obscure characters (eg. Crankcase, Breakaway, Shattered Glass Sideswipe) but these are all repaints. The only exception I can think of is Bludgeon.

I understand why Starscream comes around over and over again, but I just wish there were the occasional new-mold Slog, Chromedome or Rapido.

With news that Alternity is now producing a Decepticon mold I'm getting excited all over again about this line. The car mode is going to be sweet, I just hope the robot mode is good as well.

With the new mold being a Decepticon, I'm spotting a trend: Autobot, Decepticon, Autobot, Decepticon. I wonder who the next Autobot will be. Hot Rodimus?

Yeah, some people suspected an alternating faction release schedule after Bumble was announced. With Starscream and Skywarp announced, the idea seems to have more weight.

Convoy and Megatron are a given for this line and most Transformers lines since they're faction leaders. However, I think the choices for Alternity characters have the requirement for ability for mold reuses.

Convoy has the BT version of the character, Universe Nemesis Prime, and seemingly G1 Convoy/OP.

Megatron has G1, BT version, and an old video game incarnation.

Bumble has Cliff so far. Bugbite and Bumper are other possible candidates, though the former wouldn't align himself with the good guys.

Starscream and Skywarp make up the first two and if there's a third for the mold, then there are many other Seekers to choose from.

What would we have for alternate incarnations of Hot Rodimus? Shattered Glass Rodimus would be one, I suppose, but why would he align himself with the Cybertron faction? Who else could be used for an Alternity Hot Rodimus incarnation?

I see Orochimaru going far. Thundercracker at the least... then you've just gotta do Dirge, and atleast Ramjet. Thrust... Sunstorm. I wouldn't even mind if Takara milks it like that... Hasbro has deviated from all of that in the Movie toylines and it makes me sick. Go big or go home!

If we get Rodimus, I think the alternate schemes will be Kup and Blurr. Since alternity has alternate modes that don't really homage back to the actual character, I believe Kup and Blurr are the two characters that relate to Rodimus the most. Heck.. maybe even Arcee.

With Convoy and Megs they've already shown they don't have a problem just doing multiple colors while keeping the same name... Wasn't till the last and next mold they started making different characters out of 'em.

Alternity could give us a true female Transformer in die cast. I didn't like the BT Arcee, it was too butch.

You're forgetting the multi-dimensional possibilities. They can just paint him a random colour.

I imagine after they are done with this seeker mold, which is pretty cool BTW, they will do an Autobot, but I call a van by way of Blaster, repainted as SOundwave. Maybe not a Scion, may be a Scion. Or something else.

Probably the latter rather than the former, but I think it makes sense to a degree.

And I want the line to continue. I happen to like them, even of they do not always pose how I want, and some of the pieces get in the way.

Very true. Alternity Convoy, Bumble, and Starscream have repaints that are of characters with the same toy mold but that aren't incarnations of the base character(NP, Cliff, Skywarp).

Same I got the BT Arcee and I was hugely disappointed wwith the bot mode so I left her in alt mode in display and thats the only transformer that I leave in alt mode. Heres hoping the 5th Alternity figure is gonna be Arcee with female proportions.
