I do like the new suits and the mecha is interesting but it seems like Toei just put a bunch of random ideas for the mecha on the wall and tossed some darts.

i actually like the mecha. they seem a bit randomly chosen, but they look a lot more involved that the simple designs and transformations of kyoryuger and toqger ( not that i dislike them, but i did think they were a bit too simple).
it's been a long time since we had a main mech that had an alternate form, and a humanoid sub-mech, both in magiranger.
these are even more diverse in design than the gokai machines, and we even get a regular dog mecha this time. that's certainly a first (normal dog, not a wolf, and gunpherd was also a car).
and the red mecha basically sitting in a seat at the front is also a very interesting design choice

Pretty interesting, especially Shurikenjin (thankfully no "-oh", though "-jin" is starting to get old too). What you may not notice from the mecha, called "Otomo Shinobi", is that the red mecha Shinobimaru and the blue mecha Dragomaru have two main positions each:
- Shurikenjin normal: Shinobimaru as the "pilot", Dragomaru as an arm
- Shurikenjin Dragon: Dragomaru as the "pilot", Shinobimaru as an arm
Also, with the auxiliary mecha Paonmaru (elephant) and UFOmaru (flying saucer) both red and blue become arms while the auxiliary becomes the pilot and armaments.
