I do like the idw stuff and look forward to each new release but compared to the original (to me in the UK) 300+ comics, IDW doesn't compare as I feel that it's more mass-market, which as we all know, means that things get watered down.
Shame.

Re: Simon Furman interview regarding Transformers #81
I've long wondered about Scorponok's original head. Be nice to see him back. Would he be honourable without Zarak or would it be like Dreamwave's MTMTE profile where he suppressed his honourable side until he bonded with Zarak?
Hot Rod was prominently featured in Furman's US run yet he wasn't used to defeat Unicron as in the movie. We even got Thunderwing using the Matrix and mention of earlier Primes like Sentinel and Prime Nova but no Rodimus. I would love to see Hot Rod groomed for leadership.
BTW, I think Prime Nova sounds better than Nova Prime. Anyone else think so?
Liking the idea of a lot of the TF's returning to Cybertronan forms. Be cool to see the Titanium Seekers or WFC Soundwave.
There's only thing I don't want to see from the old Marvel comics: fleshy faces.

Also, I might actually be interested in this, since it has nothing to do with the now ruined idw G1 comic.
IDW's ongoing comic is the best Transformers comic ever. I don't want to waste my time on bad 80/90s retro-book by a writer who is way past his prime.
I'm sorry, but are you still not over the fact that I don't have the same taste for thin spreaded badly written shlock like you?
Do you honestly have to keep quoting old posts of mine where I state my own opinion and taste just to tell me once again that you disagree with me? I mean, seriously even the newbies know that by now. Why can't I just stop buying and reading something I don't like, while at the same time voicing interest in something by the same company due to it being "relatively new and untarnished"?
Because I've sick of having this damn petition shoved down my damn throat every fan site I go to followed by the same bunch of damn whiny crybabies who can't accept the fact that there are a lot of people share my pov on Furman and think #81 is a bad idea and is a PR stunt. I got news for you having been a member of several non-TF comic book sites I've met MANY people who actually agree with me that Costa and McCarthy are far better than Furman. They just don't want to waste their time being flamed by whiny crybabies like you.

Furman said those are dead will stay dead. Can someone lists me all the dead TFs? Also someone said UMagnus exist in 1 issue in US Comic, if memory serve correctly he only appeared in TFTM comic but none for the standard issue 1-80.

Re: Simon Furman interview regarding Transformers #81
I signed the petition, but JUST SAY NO TO IGNORING THE G2 SERIES!!!
Why do writers feel the constant need to ignore established canon? Seriously, it's just lazy. Furman can easily continue the G1 series without ignoring or contradicting the G2 comic. Didn't he say in an interview somewhere that the idea was to bring the Marvel series into modern times? So if he's fastforwarding 20 years into the future, why ignore anything that happened in the G2 comic? Makes no sense whatsover. A couple of passing mentions to events in G2, and then never mention it again, and all the ppl who care about continuity are satisfied.
Furman has proven time and time again that he is an awesome writer. I don't understand this decision at all. I never saw him as one to take the easy way out. Ah well.

Personally, I love the current ongoing series...and I love Furman's contributions and am quite excited about the prospect of issue 81.
I agree that views on Furman are highly varied and there are many who feel this is a PR stunt. However, I am not sure how a posting that is well labeled and can easily be avoided is shoving anything down anyone's throat. If it makes you angry you should probably just open a different thread, right?
