So, how do the Device label figures stack up....

Feel free to discuss anything about any of the thousands of Transformer toys here. Anything from Generation 1 all the way to the soon to be released, the never to be released or the hope to be released is fair game! Want to show off your stuff? He's fine if you use a deluxe Megatron in your display, eg. Cybertronian Megatron.

But I use the glory that is Henkei Megatron...

As do most people.

Personally, i'm a scale freak - i think a deluxe class Megatron fits better with the seekers and DL Soundwave, etc.

Also, he's more in scale with combiners such as classics Devastator and Bruticus.

Just my 2 cents ;)

I agree. That's why I have two Classics collections. One is fronted by deluxe tank Megatron and deluxe 'helicopter' Prime, the other is fronted by the voyagers.

Soundwave scales so well with Megatron there and doesn't miss a beat in terms of how he fits in.

Actually, I think Hasbro\Takara have done such a good job with the aethetics of Classics\Universe\Generations that a lot of the original G1 figures don't look too out of place anyways. Soundwave is particually good along those lines, and Reflector should be ok, too. Unfortunately, I don't have enough of the Classics line to check Reflector and lots of my other G1s.

And yet the seekers and Devatator are all pretty damned small by all standards. As I said though it's beyond me to try reasoning with you. To be honest I'm sick and tired of arguing over the most nerdiest things in the TF community since all it leads to is agreeing to disagree on any given thing, thus I give up on scale issues. If you like G1 SW being the same height as Voyager Megatron, fine.

But just to be an asshole and get you all riled up I'm going to leave you with one thing to think about.

1. I didn't notice that you and I were particularly "arguing" this. I said from the beginning that I know my opinion on the matter isn't the most popular. The very fact that I can make a reasonable argument for the inclusion of the modified G1 Soundwave is just fun. Also, when I argue things, they no longer can be classified as "nerdy". They are reclassified as "academic"

...Nah, I'm just trollin.

2. You can't rile me up. I'm surrounded by awesome toys and I have a Starbucks gold card. I'm ballin' outrageous. :x That's not trolling though. It's very, extremely true.

Broadside has the dumbest altmode in G1. A slightly taller then average bot becoming an aircraft carrier is like me transforming into the Home Depot down the street. IDW made him a smaller battleship and he's better off for it.

I've actually considered using WFC Megatron for my Classics collection. I kind of like the idea that he doesn't care to blend in (not that a gun is a great disguise anyway.) He is Megatron. If he is there, he'd want everyone to know it and run the other direction.

But Broadside was a plane and an aircraft carrier. He was so cool he could...land on...himself?

Anyway, I am currently using the huge-dong Titanium Soundwave on my classics shelf. I will be replacing him with Generations Soundwave as soon as I find him. I would like to get the DL, but I don't need to spend that money on an mp3 player that I will never use. He looks good, but when there are other options out there I don't think the price is justfied.

Universe Ravage fits in DL Blasters chest just fine! ;)

While the "Headphonicons" are quite the epic failing, ML Optimus Prime is awesome! (NOTE: Remember that there are two different versions; the white "Convoy" and the red and blue "Optimus Prime." Takara saw fit to make it a distinct difference for the first time ever.) The new deeper colors, the tampographed Autobot symbol, the completely new more accurate head. It actually replaced the G1 Optimus Prime in my display. Plus the trailer folds up to be like one of those party platforms that MTV used to drive around the country for events in the 80's and 90's. I used to have it set up on my window with Actionmaster Blaster MCing and all the different Energon Arcee repaints around it like it was "Spring Break: Iacon."

lol, that's hilarious. I guess I did speak too soon in saying ML OP is no good. Just something I don't particularly need for my collection, is all.

zodconvoy wrote:VERY LONG AND TIME CONSUMING RANT!

Just foolin', Spoomy.

Seriously CP, where would you put ML Soundwave in you collection? You have the white in with SG already so that's a no go. It's this idea that somehow a G1 toy fits in with others 20+ years advanced that screws with people. Would you do that with Trailbreaker or the Insecticons? Or Skids or Blitzwing, Reflector, Shockwave, Menasor or the Dinobots?

No. It just doesn't look right, doesn't feel right. It isn't right for most of our collections. Generation 1 toys stand out like the antiques they now are. And for those of us that feel that way there are only two Soundwaves available: Music Label and Titanium.

Music Label for the win.
;)^

It's not like it's hard to get one. Or even that prestigious to have one. It's f***ing Starbucks(piss poor quality and piss poor taste, try a real coffee like Community, it's cheaper than Starbucks, too if you can find it), not a Rolls Royce. I fail to see how that's being a "Show off"(more like a good laugh at people taking the subject too seriously).

An engineer on the Starbucks Gold Card: http://cruftbox.com/blog/archives/001534.html

As for the actual topic at hand, I'm with CP that the TRU Univers reissue looks better to me amongst the Classics than DL, but I go with WFC Soundwave over both in my collection.

In a related conversation, how ballin would it be to be typing this post in a Starbucks, right now, on a laptop with DL Blaster being a hub for my ML Soundwave while listening to the Rumble (red) and Frenzy (blue) headphones?

The ballin'-est.

But, real talk? Purchasing DL Blaster is a sign of good upbringing.

I've got the Soundblaster version. I already had Classics Soundwave.
I don't prefer one over the other. Thinking about getting Blaster... not sure though.

They're both the bomb. Love ML Soundwave as an articulated version of SW with a great head sculpt. He's a tall deluxe size, & seems perfectly in-place with a Classics Cons collection. Love DL Blaster for the same reasons, plus he holds cassette-bots. BOMB. He's a bit taller than ML SW, which is probably right in scale.

But like CP & other said... if scale bugs you, Classics reissue G1 SW stands tall with Voyager Megs & a Shockwave stand-in (Energon Shockblast). I know some clever customizers have modded his knees to be able to bend correctly, but that's beyond my skill level. Plus, he can stuff tapes in his chest. If he's the Soundblaster chest mold, sometimes after a few drinks, he likes to double-stuff.

On the subject of Device Label Transformers, I absolutely love Tigatron. It's a great mold and one of those repaints that really is better than the original.

I love it when we get new G1 characters, especially when it retro-fits characters from other series into G1. It's nice to see the G1 version of Tigatron before the Beast era.

I like to think of him as a bodyguard to the Primes ala Ravage and his twin, Nightstalker in the old G1 UK annual, especially since he's a 'twin' of Ravage himself or at least a repaint.

He also looks great in my little team of colour complementing bots:

Tap Out
Skid-z
and Botcon Chromia

On the bodyguard note, I like to think that Kup has him and Tap Out, looking out for Rodimus Prime.

But I digress. A friend of mine showed me DL Blaster and it is a thing of beauty. By coincidence, that same friend is repainting a Kabaya version of G1 Blaster for me. It's the same size in bot mode as G1 Springer. I'm a scale nut as well I'm afraid. Though I'm a fan of Diaclones not Classics deluxe cars.

Finally, G1 Soundwave forever!

Pretty ballin'. Except the sound coming out of your ML headphones would probably be pretty bad.

Well, since scale's been off in TF since... the beginning, it's never bothered me. ML Soundwave is a great update to the figure who fits in fine with my neo-G1 collection. Same with Blaster.
