Literary translation. More specifically, my project looks to create a critical manual for comics translation, focusing on Italian to English, and including sociolinguistics, cognitive stylistics, multimodal analysis, semiotics and various aspects of the brass tack mechanics of comics and translation.
I don't even know what these words mean, but you're saying you want to make it easier for people to translate comic books from Italian to English?

How indeed.
Scare acting: theme park worker, especially Halloween or horror-themed events, paid to ..well, scare people. Example below (I'm the one on the right).

More or less, yes. I just found it weird that there is a lot of academic writing on comics in translated publications (reception of them, distribution, amount of what is translated and what isn't) but nothing on how to translate them, except for one book that doesn't really do much. I'm focusing in particular on the problems in translating humour, cultural references, interaction between image and text, and interaction between texts and readers/fans as the disturbance/enabler for it all to work. More or less.

And I figured as much about a scare actor, I've just never heard the term.

When there's downtime (and most of the time, there usually is) I place stickers on top of boxes and fold them together to make the four inch by eight inch boxes.
The bad thing is, I only get paid between seventy dollars and one hundred and twenty dollars every two weeks (depending on the changing rates they give out on the amount of work I do each pay period).

That sounds like an amazing job to have! Is it as good as I imagine? And how has the advent of CGI sets effected your trade?

The advent of CGI has altered nothing. Busier than ever. THere are LOTS of productions not requiring CGI and the ones that do still need sets for the actors and stunt people to interact with.

Sounds great, It's good to know that CGI hasnt effected the use of talanted people like yourselves in film, set construction has always mesmerised me ever since I saw the making of "Rear Window" its amazing that entire apartment courtyard was a set.

Believe it or not when I worked at Disneyland that's what we did. Ride wasn't acting right get everyone out and power down then power back up! LOL Since they work on a computer system it makes sense.
Currently I'm an assistant manager at a Family Dollar. Too much responsibility and not enough pay. I hope to go back to Disney in a few years.

Now I work as a sales / business development-type dude at a large Indian IT software services company.
The journey from point A to point B remains a mystery.
