I always thought prime was a mix of animated and movie verse design wise and I was impressed with the engineers who did the toys, especially on animated, the first time I transformed prowl I was stunned, same with Lockdown. A lot of people put animated down because of visuals

I had no idea he was a repaint (the red of Overload looks awful by the way).
That's the thing, I liked Animated - The Show, for it's visuals. I didn't like the look of the toys though. Prime made a lot of weird design choices I didn't like from the beginning EG Extended eyebrows, no noses etc

After that, he became Overload and I feel Hasbro did it to spite the fans and "punish" us for being so supportive of the leak.

I like the character and he was a great level/boss in the game BUT if the toy was one whole piece, it would have been a lot better.

You don't see leaks like we used to around the time of A/E/C, Hasbro are pretty on top of that themselves by sharing more and more information. Plus they shifted factories. That's probably the big reason.

I suppose that added openness is a step in the right direction. But the thrill of the unexpected surprise can't be overstated. I mean if around the time of the next Con of Toy Expo, if HasTak suddenly dropped MP Jazz or MP Galvatron out of thin air, that is a reaction to savour.

And then they did this, created this atrocity of a episode... Dark Awakening, it was wrong on so many levels to revive him as a zombie and kill Optimus Prime again. Im surprized Hasbro got away with no controversy over that episode when it aired.

The movie version of G1 Hot Rod becoming a new Prime could have been great but Season 3 which i felt like was mostly like anime filler material just ruined the potential. The Burden Hardest To Bear and Return Of Optimus Prime episodes were good.

Weirdest part about that episode, if memory serves, it was aired in the wrong order. I believe it was supposed to be chronologically closer to Return of Optimus Prime, which would have lessened it's impact even further

You say that and I'd agree with you but... This came after the OTT reaction to his Original death in The Movie.

Still it's quite a close call compared to the movie death because of his last moment face in the episode. I'm a grown 30 year old man and i still get the chills when i watch it as if i am in my early teens.

Yep. To me at the time, the most horrific death in the film. It's something you can associate with real life, unlike the rest of the film. Being eaten alive...

To a 3y/o though, being devoured by Sharks/monsters with massive teeth is a bit more real than lava or acid.
Everyone killed on the Shuttle got off easy... Except Ironhide

Nah, Ironhide still got it worse, even though it was only once
Maybe if they had just let the first death stick (and not have his replacement turn into a futuristic Winnebago

Exactly! He had a good death in The Movie. He had that epic final confrontation with his long term rival, which killed them both (technically) you don't get a much better finale than that.
They should have left them both there.
His existence in the fiction now is a joke. Because now they will never kill him for good.
There is so much more to Transformers than a boring, hypocritical Trukk.

OP is here to stsy as well as many main characters, while lesser characters are pretty much unknown nowadsys by the kiddos. Sure we have a lot of CHUG and Prime Wars Trilogy figures giving us back some of them in a new light...but there are others who we still haven't gotten toys of, or if we have, not really good ones ( ie Cliffjumper and Shockwave).
However despite all this, I guess we can at least be happy Transformers is still a popular franchise.

Transformers maybe popular but we must forget that it was the franchise taking risks that saved it from the death which g2 brought with it.
