Umm, no, Ryan.

Browning's robot mode in the cartoon is only about five inches tall.

BROWNING, not Megatron. Megatron turns into a Walther P-38, and Browning... turns into a Browning Hi-Power.

all the best g1 transformers were really great toys who ended up being ludicrously shoehorned into a slightly shoddy cartoon. 8)

The Takara G1 Browning is the most screen-accurate TF, because he was 1:1 with his toy size.

except his alt-mode which is 1:500 (or something).

The fault lies with the cartoon not the toys, which were clearly designed for ze kiddies to run around shooting mum, dad, the cat and anything else unfortunate enough to suffer Megatron's plastic wrath when he wasn't being a robot. That's a freaking cool toy, but makes absolutely no sense when replicated as-is on-screen! at least subsequent series realized this and made him a tank which is 70% less cool, but 100% less confusing.

Hasbro's scramble for any transforming toy they could lay their sweaty hands on has left g1 transformers with a mind-bending sense of scale that has stuck with the line ever since confusing artists and fans alike. as much as i love the old G1 cartoon, it was pretty much awful :D

i'm going to watch heavy metal wars and the girl who loved powerglide* again when i get home 8)

*they both came on the same VHS way back when, and i've had to watch these two episodes back-to-back ever since. Nostalgic OCD or something i guess, plus they are both unintentionally hilarious.

You need to read this on the bottom here. Browning is in the Japanese cartoon not the US one.

never watched the Japanese cartoon, apparently i was busy in 2006 i had no idea it'd even received a region 2 release, but he's awesome! is he particularly rare, cos i can see him making it onto my want list if he's obtainable.

my complete lack of transformers knowledge aside, i still think the weird mass-displacement nonsense (which even the comics are too embarrassed to give more than a cursory glance) makes some of the best toys in the g1 line the stupidest idea for transformers.

I saw a Browning that went for $210 USD earlier today on eBay. It might have been a KO, though, as it used red rather than blue plastic.

If the chrome was gold, as well, it might have been a MicroChange GunRobo version - the original line that Megatron, Browning, and a S&W .44 magnum came from.

And I wonder why Kenner didn't choose Browning instead of the Walther to repurpose as Megatron - his toy was MUCH better for the time.

Srly, Browning actually has legs and its robot mode looks much better.

The chrome was silver in colour. I also just watched a review of a KO Browning and it looked exactly like what I saw for auction! Hmm...

Browning would have been cool as Megatron. The toy design looks more pleasing to me than the G1 Megatron figure.

I believe the stupidest idea would be for a real gear TF called Stopper.

Stopper transforms from a Heroic Robot into an actual Doorstop. Change him into his alt-mode and wedge him under your door to keep it open.

Then repaint him into Slams the Decepticon who's main attack is to let doors hit people in faces.

My thoughts exactly. The sale had in big bold letters "Takara, MIB, hard to find, etc.".

The video reviewer I watched bought his KO Browning with the knowledge it was a KO. He bought it because it was a very good KO and it was far more affordable than the real thing, which he couldn't buy.

I'll throw my lot in with the Pretenders crowd... nothing says disguise like a fifty foot human... Or giant fangly monster... Or a skeletal Samurai... or... Octo...punch... Don't get me wrong, some of the characters were cool... but the toys were a lame concept...

For me, absolutely everything from Beast Wars. That line turned my attention away from Transformers until the Classics line surfaced.

I'll just hide in the corner now.

Transformers with facial hair. I particularly despise Alpha Trion.

Unicycle transformers: Beast Machines Thrust and Movie Demolisher.

Most TF's that break away from the traditional TF helmet head design usually look awful: A lot of Movie characters especially the twins, Star Wars TF's, certain Beast Wars TF's.

Don't get me wrong there are some great toys in those lines but the heads ruin them for me in a lot of cases.

Robot heroes: Cutesy little non-transforming pieces of crap. never understand why people love these but hate Actionmasters.

The use of Cyber Planet Keys. Much as I disliked Mini-cons, at least they were toys/characters in them selves.

Yes I love Pretenders and Actionmasters. Always loved that AM Jazz fitted into his Pretender shell because inner robot Jazz was rubbish.

Nothing to say that shells like Bombburst and Submarauder were not based on other lifeforms TF's encountered. I will say that Stranglehold's shell designer should be fed to the Sharkticons.

I can understand the pretender bashing if they were only the giant g1 comic humans, but i have always loved the japanese version that they are human size then mass shift bigger! Personally I have always disliked the micromasters, hundreds of similar looking robots with no personality! That killed g1 for me not action masters (which i love)

Actually, Takara once released a silver dinosaur egg that transforms into a T-Rex. I think it was a 1980's product, something I got for a souvenir as a kid way back then. The idea itself might sound pretty ludicrous, but the toy's actually kind of cool to mess around with.

Careful what you wish for... :D

gotta agree with many of you, the Nike shoe... is pretty bad.

I gotta say though I like it when they think outside of the box and anytime you do that you risk making some horrendous ones, but well worth the risk imo.
